Help, Kyokugen sucks !!

Okay, I have sucessfully stripped two kyokugen keys trying to get these damn lugs off. Dave, sorry I'll get you a new key even if it means buying a whole new set I have searched far and wide for advice on how to get these damn lugs off. I have found a number of "solutions" 1) get a slightly smaller socket and pound the sucka on wit a BFH. 2) Use a Gator Grip 3) Try out the craftsman "Bolt out set " What are your opinons on these solutions, ie, which do you think is the best, or maybe you have a different one. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and anybody with Kyokugens would be wise to get new lugs ASAP so as to avoid my $hitty dilema....

Steve

Steve, we just got some gator grips in. 9 bucks. i don't think the bolt out won't work mainly because of its concave pattern. maybe i'll take a look at it and see what can be done.

Go buy some craftsmans sockets....pound that sucka on and then get it off....return to sears and do it again.

p.s. Are you using an air gun to take um off? putting a piece of cloth or towel around the key helps.

Nothing irritates me more than that. If you're gonna buy a socket and use it for what it WASN'T intended to do then suck it up and bite that $8.49 18mm 1/2inch drive 6pt socket.

of course...that goes for you guys...for me, i can do that alllllllllll NIGHT LONG!

Because your lugs are seven sided I think, you will need a 12pt socket more then likely. Good luck.

Line the sockets that you have with COARSE GRIT sandpaper. Stuff it in there until you get a TIGHT fit. Have at it with the impact gun.

sell your car with the wheels on it, buy a new one, start over.

edit:but seriosly, if you use the craftsman bolt outs, that will be the last thing those lugs see, and if that doesnt work, you are screwed

The lugs are open ended, I dont think it's possible to use those particular bolt remover tools.

yeah, didnt think about that at all, guess it would be kinda hard to get in there around the lugs with the wheel on huh? guess im no help, just wanted to put in that the bolt outs will ruin anything they touch, but since they wont work anyway, guess i wasnt any help

I've always wondered about those... I think Sears had a set for around $60 bucks... I was meaning to get something stuck so I could buy those But one wonders how much easier it is compared to just jamming on a 12pt socket on there...
