My sti is acting up. Please help!
Alright where do I start. First of all I did several searches and they weren't like my problem. My car is not just smoking a little bit, its smokes alot. I recently put on the Syms header and upipe. I also have the UTEC, tbe, and blitz sus intake. At idle white smoke floods out and a little bit of oil shoots out. Then as i calmly go down the street and smoke still poors out. But after 10minutes it goes away but when i idle for awhile it comes right back, and if i reset my ecu, it also goes away for about an hour, then comes back. When i first put my headers on it wasn't doing this and that was about 5 days ago, i was just shooting 5ft flames out my @$$, when i wasn't even at WOT. I checked all my hoses and everything look okay. I changed my oil today and it still does it. I checked my overflow coolant resavior and it was fine, i checked to see if any bubble would come from the radiator fill tank when i started it, and nothing. I'm not getting any power loss either. Could I have broken a seal on the turbo from the header install? Would that make me spit oil out of the exhaust? Please help this is my baby and my daily driver. Thanks

Alright, this just happened to me, I went to my car this morning and looked under my car and their was a pool of oil, under where the catback and the downpipe meet, only there, no where else. Then I pretty sure my turbo was making ssome metal rubbing on metal noises. I tried to drive it, OMG, smoke was trailing behind me for a 1/2 mile before I turned around and went back home. Got out of my car and there was a lot of oil all over by rear bumper and trunk which was from the exhaust. This is what I think happened, let me know what you think. I think my car was parked on an incline, so somehow oil form the turbo leaked down my downpipe and leaked out inbetween the catback and dp. Does this sound like a bad turbo?
did u disconnect the turbo oil line when u did the install of the uppipe and headers? If not, you probably have a serious problem. Considering oil should not be comming out of your car anywhere. I haven't experienced this problem before. I would suggest not driving it until the problem is solved, or you take if somewhere or have someone who know thier stuff look at it.
Last time I check, blowing fireballs out of your exhaust is also not really good for your car. Although it is pretty freakin cool lookin.

Did you figure it out yet? Like stated earlier check your oil line into the turbo as well as anything in the general area of where you where working on your car (make sure nothing was accidently disconnected) If you have done all this and are still have these problems get a compression test done. When I had symptoms like this on my sti and than I heard metal on metal I also thought is was my turbo well to make a long story short I took off the turbo and it was fine did a compression test and the motor ended up coming out.

If your running any cat-less system, you can smell burnt oil (blue smoke). If you are blowing white smoke, you are burning coolant/water/anti-freeze. In situations where you are burning coolant, that indicates a blown head gasket.
I've never seen oil spit from an exhaust pipe, but I guess its possible. With your symptoms, it sounds like your turbo seals are blown and the oil used to lubricate the compressor shaft is leaking in to your downpipe. What you are seeing at warm up is all that leaking oil that built up over night and chillin in your downpipe is getting burnt creating a nice big cloud of nasty smoke.
Hopefully your warrenty is still applicable. Rebuilding a turbo can cost $500++.

I lost cylnder number 2 the piston lost a pertty good chunk. Thats why I got a wonderful metal on metal sound.
How long have you had your tbe on? Did you install it with the header and uppipe?
Ok but I am thinking about this some more. You are running the utec with the utec you should get the flashing check engine light when the utec/ecu picks up knock where you getting this at all even before your last couple of installs. If you are what do you have the utec doing? (ex. does your utec pull timing at X amounts of knock if so how much) That part really does not matter that is more just want to know for my own benefit.
If I where to guess what the problem (an I am not a mechanic) I would have to guess an oil leak from your turbo or something got disconnected during your last couple of installs. The white smoke could be that you have new exhaust things on the car and it is just burning out all of the oils. The shooting out of oil from your car is most likely due to you not running a cat anymore so anything that is shooting out of the exhaust just comes out.
I have to run right now but let me know if you have any loose connections that may be causeing your oil leaks
