V3s are a street coilover. If he wants something track-worthy, the RCE Tarmac 2s are the best starting point. Built off KW V3 with better springs (linear) and more aggressive valving.

I've been in a car with v1s and I've got st, I couldn't tell the difference...who needs a lifetime warranty on shocks anyway...they will both eventually need a rebuild and that isn't covered by the warranty iirc

^ I'm pretty sure the only difference between the KWs and STs is the KWs have stainless steel casing and the STs have galvanized steel casing.

No, different springs and valving as well. STs are based on the V1s.

^ And he's asking about KW V1s. Most sources I've seen say the valving and spring rates are the same, but I haven't seen hard data on that, though.

Also, when getting these, you're going to need to buy top hats/camber plates on your own to use them.

why would he have to buy new mounts?? you retain your factory mounts he would not have to buy anything unless his factory mounts are junk

They are also hundreds cheaper and offer mostly the same results. We all know he's not tracking the car and at least he's wisening up to step away from budget coilovers like BC BRs.
if he was tracking the car i wouldn't suggest either the ST or V1 they are street kits NOT RACE KITS . the OP said he is getting the KW for a good price. i think its a great option if he is getting a good deal.

call KW and ask them if they are a different valving.. once again you do not know what you are talking about.
