"Perfect" albums

It seems like these days fewer and fewer people are purchasing music albums, but instead purchasing more specific tracks / songs. Not surprising since we hardly ever get to hear from all the various artists / bands out there other than the VERY SELECT songs that are constantly played on the local radio stations. (Seriously, it seems like most artists have a catalog of exactly ONE SONG if you go just by what is played on the radio.

We've probably all done this at some point, where you purchase an album from a band / artist that you like and then come to find most of the album isn't really worth listening to, most of the album is just ... meh. You might only like the song you know or maybe just a few others, with most of the album being just filler music or songs that you would skip and not bother listening to.

So what albums out there would you classify as "perfect" albums, the album that you will listen to without ever skipping over songs? Something that you can put in while you are driving and listen to full thing from start-to-finish?

This is open to all genres as we all have different musical tastes.

A few that I would propose:

AC/DC - Back in Black
Bad Religion - The Gray Race
Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket
The Offspring - Ignition
U2 - Rattle and Hum
Weezer - The Blue Album

This is becoming a rare thing. Artists are being pressured to release more and more albums. But they don't have the capacity to come up with that much good music.

But there are still a few out there... Off the top of my head...

Rudimental, Home

Feed Me, Calamari Tuesday

And I really dislike have single song artists in my library. It's discography or nothing.

Grateful Dead: In the Dark
Kansas: Leftoverture, Song of America
Garth Brooks: No fences, 'Ropin in the wind
Eagles: Every album both studio and live

I am sure I have missed many, but that is a good list to start someone out on a "perfect" tour of music from the 1969-2000

Incubus - Morning View. Tracks 5-10 are some of the best and most underrated songs by them (IMO).

Orbital - Orbital 2 (The Brown Album)

and/or

Orbital - In Sides

And others I'm forgetting... was more an album guy when I had ready access to all my CDs, which are in storage, and haven't been ripped yet. Not sure if I want to at this point though, for both the time and effort and chex's initial assertion that the album seems dead these days. I like the limits of being locked into the 79:59 a CD affords one, and that's the same limit I put on myself when maxing mix CDs.

Thus the and/or

They have different characters to them that I like for one mood more than another, but they def can be listened in a straight go, all 2-3 hours worth if you count the 2nd CD on In Sides.

+1 For Chem Bros too.
