If you really don't believe me I can get pictures of it, but honestly I don't think it's necessary. The STi has more power, so when stuff breaks it breaks bad.
What happened? I'd like to know the power mods and clutch...

I'm not exactly sure what happened, I just saw the after effects and what the inside of the tranny looked like, this was at Capitol Suby in San Jose. I am pretty sure they took the gears out and have at least the 3rd gear in their service dept. waiting area as a "this is a bad thing" display.

Only power Mods that I saw were, Header (Old school gruppe-s w/the slip joint that leaked like a ****), Up/Down pipes, cat back, and an AccessPort Tune (no idea who tuned it).

edit: I believe it had an Act Clutch

I got tired of sitting in my car for a minute to cool down so I got a turbo timer. Blitz FATT.

Hmmmm, well that is not common at all. Must have been a defective tranny or extreme operator error/misuse.

I plan to continue banging and chirping gears regularly

you don't "have" to, but it is a good habit to get into. I normally will let my car idle for at least 15-20 seconds before shutting down if I am just cruising home from work or something. But if you are driving hard, then yes, you should let it cool down for a bit first.

May want to do a search on turbo timers. I know that for stock Subaru applications I wouldn't bother with a turbo timer but I haven't gotten an answer on whether or not a TT is necessary with after market turbos. My guess would be that it is not since turbo design has improved. Although I guess a TT wouldn't hurt and if you want one by all means go and get one.
