when the dealer said they would fix it for you, the first thing you should ask is a DUE BILL. with that they will have to fix it for you. by word..=\

and 290 miles is a little too much, but its normal with anything under 100. just think about it. when a BRAND NEW car hit the show room floor it already have 3 to 5 miles on it. driving from the factory to the truck, upload and unload the truck. dealer got drive it to PDI the car, and then take it to detail. so there goes first few miles.

each test drive is about 3 to 4 miles. so just say 10 people drove the car is already 30 miles. so thats nothing.

when a car needs dealer trade. for example from capital to oakland is around 40 miles. so 40 + 20 from test drive, and i have another 10 miles test drive is around 70 miles. so a new car that is 70 to 80 miles on the car is very normal.

exactly why I test drove one car and bought a different one. Dealerships don't always do test drives on the actual car you buy. Often times they have ONE that they use. Hence one have 300 miles on it.

Dude, you got so many choices in the Bay its not even funny...GST Motorsports in Hayward gets my business, but you got also LIC, Speed Element, FLI, Auto HQ...

Just visit as many shops as you can, talk to the people there, discuss goals you wanna reach with your etc etc etc...and figure out which one will work best for you. I am more than glad to show and give you a ride in mind if you can get couple good pics of it

As far as the situation, it is what it is...Just learn from it and move on. To be on the safe side, have on of the shops around here do compression/lead down test for you as others have mentioned and give a car a complete once over. It will give you a piece of mind and concrete evidence to go back to the dealer with if something is amiss. Good luck!

we usually have customer test drive the car they want to buy. in order for them to buy a car they have to test drive it.

i wish i have more customer like you, because you are willing to test drive one car and buy another one. there are so many people out there that only wants to look and test drive the ONE they one. if we don't have it they don't even want to talk about it.

300 miles is alot. i know that. im saying a car with 30 to 80 miles on it is nothing. on a busy day, a car might be taken out for 5 or 6 times. and that is 20 miles already. plus a dealer trade is around 70 miles.

so people don't really have to worry about cars with 30 or 70 miles. over 200 is a little too much. but that just because the car has been there for too long. since is almost the last 08 he bought the car has been out for almost a year.

I would take it to a mechanic to have checked out... I remember with my last Subaru, which I bought from Oakland Subaru (don't go there), there were all sorts of problems and negligence with my car. Take it to AutoHQ to have it inspected, they're VERY thorough with their inspections and will even check if bolts are tightened

You didn't buy a used car, it just possibly had a hard break in.

It may be a good thing. you never know.

If I hear any more complaints about you owning an 08 STI I'm gonna slap you....(joke)

Back when we bought our 07's they wouldnt even let ya test drive them. I was ok with that both our cars has 3 miles on them so it was for sure new.

Carlsen would always stay true, they didn't let anyone test drive. If NOBODY test drives thats fine, but once exceptions are made and what not its like F that. But ya if you got 10 miles or less you are pretty safe.
