Just got back from SoCal Saturday afternoon. Just a little worried taking the new engine all the way down and back again. But as usual, the guys at Gruppe-S did not disappoint and the car ran like a champ. 4 -1/2 hours from SF to LA but 7 hours from SF to LA (2 of them just getting out of LA
)
Car ran nice. A couple of times I had the car up to 120mph for less than 10 seconds passing cars. Kinda worried about the Subie taking the Grapevine since the last time it nearly killed our Civic. Noooo problem this time.
We stayed down near Disneyland. After 9:30P, all of the major streets in and around the resort turns into some bad scene from the Fast and the Furious. Drag racers up and down the side streets. It was ridiculous if you think about all of the families walking around. Was a stop light and some a-hole in a Altima kept reving on me, tearing off to the next stop light and doing it over and over again. As I pulled up the stoplight, he'd turn his wheels into me to provoke some type of reaction. At one light a White STi and Corvette raced through a green light. Never thought of Anaheim being such a "racer" city. Who knew?
Never saw so many "spinner rims", neon tire plugs, wipers. Egads!
While we were there there was some huge teen cheerleader/dance competition going on. Everyday large packs of scantedly clad, tube topped, overly made up, lithe young ladies were prancing through the park. As a father I vowed that my 8-year old daughter will never leave the house until she's 35.
Anyways, glad to be back to the Bay Area and the BAIC.
Stan.

We were down there not too long ago and it just reminded me how much it sucks down there (I know first hand, went to school at UCI). We stayed at the Marriott Suites about 5 mins from the park.
Anyway, first night were down there.... on our way to a wedding rehersal, we got into a little situation with riced out civics because he and his buddy didn't want to merge in bumper to bumper traffic like normal civilized people. Stupid ricer looked over and wanted to start something with my wife and daughter in the car.

The only thing I strongly suggest would be to wait an extra 1-2 seconds after a light turns green while you're in your car and an extra 3-5 seconds if you're walking. Crazy out there!
