issue w/custom kreations :-( (!?)
issue w/creative kustoms :-( (!?)
*my bad, i meant creative kustoms* :-P
hi all,
i recently purchased an sti a little over a month ago, but not too long after (i only had the car for 2 weeks!!!) some jealous douchebag decided to key it across the passenger side for no apparent reason. so after reading/hearing recommendations from my friend and this forum, i decided to take my car into custom kreations to repair the paint damage.
about three weeks ago i dropped it off on a saturday, 7/14 (left the keys w/them over the weekend), and the following tuesday they were supposed to start work on the car and said that it'd be done by the end of the week or next monday (7/24), at the latest.
that monday, 7/24, passed (i.e. the beginning of week 2), and on wednesday (i think) i gave them a call to see how the paint job was coming along. they said that they didn't start on it yet b/c of the heatwave that went on and were gonna start priming the car on that friday (7/28).
now it's been over three weeks, and i haven't heard a word about the status of my car. i tried calling them last friday (8/4), but they didn't answer; i assume they closed on that day. i'm going to try again tomorrow.
i dunno, i guess i'm concerned b/c what they considered to be a 1-week job is turning into almost 4 weeks. i don't have any concern over the quality of their work, but paranoia's starting to get me to ask things like: "they wouldn't be driving it around, would they?" and stuff like that. i know i'm probably just being dumb, but you know how it goes if your car's been gone for so long...haha like, i hope they're not pulling a "ferris bueller's day off" with it or anything like that...:-X
i'm currently attending summer school in davis, and having been used to driving myself around practically all the time i must admit being car-less has been very inconvenient, especially b/c the buses don't run as often or as late as they do during the school year (and being such a big nerd, i tend to study a lot late at night :-P) it's difficult to schedule a time when i can take a train or plan a trip w/my friend to san jose to pick up the car b/c my schedule's pretty busy (one 2 hr class, 3 days a week, and a 6-hr lab, twice a week), so i have to know in advance when the car will be done. additionally, i'm going to start taking classes at sac city in a few weeks, so i'll need my car to commute to sacramento soon.
i dunno why i posted this...maybe i'm just looking for some advice or some reassurance that they wouldn't be doing anything wrong with my car that would cause them to take so long...sorry for being so paranoid; i just miss my car a lot...just got the plates in the mail, too...damn :-(
thanks for reading.

hey is yours the blue STI? I saw it the other day when I dropped off my friends car. There work is great, and it was pretty hot in their garage to do anything im sure they will give you an update, my friend dropped off his car for em to paint a fender and a bumper and they were done in about 3-4 days.
yeah that's my sti...man i freakin' miss that thing (not to mention being able to drive around in general). thanks for the heads up! :-)
as for my mileage, i know it was around 1900, +/-20 mi or so, but that's a good tip to keep in mind, thanks!

They aren't driving your car. They have their own cars.
I wouldn't worry about that.
George is the most **** painter I know. He's very talented and a perfectionist. I'd be happy that you have someone taking their time on your car. It sucks to not have it for so long but I'm guessing that the quality would not have been there during the heat wave. George makes sure everything is perfect.
When you get your car back and see how nice it is you'll forget you ever were without it.
Trust me. I had mine in there for a while.
So don't worry about it. I'm sure George and his wife have both told you they appologize for not doing it quicker....stopping work for ANY amount of time hurts them more than anyone else. It is not easy to run a shop like that around here.

thanks for letting know; it makes me feel more relieved hearing it from someone who knows them. i know in the end i shouldn't have to worry about anything at all; the fact that everyone i hear from has had nothing but great things to say about their experiences with them (incl. my friend), but i think being w/o my ride for this long b/c of some jealous, car keying punk has started to get to me...haha i guess i just need to calm the hell down and just be a bit more patient :-P

Ya man don't worry about it. The heat wave did make them close shop for a couple of days. They don't have air conditioning in the garage and Georges wife is pregnant. So she definetly can't be out there when it is 100+ degrees and she is George's right hand woman.
I had my side skirts painted by them a couple of weeks ago. They were in the shop for over a week even though they told me it was going to take a couple of days. But the wait was worth it. George will get it done and he will get it done to perfection.

Plus with extreme heat like that paint just doesn't lay right. There is a preferred temp range for shooting. Think it's 50-80 or something like.

George and Elisabeth are good peeps... most of the time it's only the two of them working so it's understandable that things might run longer than expected if work starts to pile up. I wouldn't worry about it.
And like Polish said, Elisabeth is pregnant, so they might take an early day once in a while... Once you have a kid on the way you'll quickly realize there's more to life than just business.
