Anytime I dealt with them, the salesmen weren't knowledgable about imprezas...
I thought they were re-opening in the fairfield automall though?

I guess the Mazda's I saw on the new lot were used cars.
.... no crap the tr is a type of wrx and no crap the sti is a subaru impreza wrx sti
....... i thought it was safe to assume people would know thats what i was talking about. the tr is different than a wrx, i was looking to buy a wrx, not a tr..........(he had no idea that the there was a verison between the tr and the sti.......he was acting like an as$hole and didn't even know the models he was trying to sell) i didnt want the unpainted mirrors and stuff like that, i wanted the wrx...

Part 2
Today was nearly all bad news guys. I went in to see if I can get tranmission fluid for a manual transmission. They only have one mechanic, and he's a 6 year veteran from Stevens Creek Subaru (I remember seeing/reading about SCS guys monkeying around customer cars, such as racing it down the street and AWD launching). They have another certified mechanic coming in.
As someone guessed correctly, all the cars were bought from Subaru of Fairfield's inventory when the dealership closed. They are selling them at Subaru of Fairfield prices. What does this mean? Massive mark-ups. I talked to Charlie Waters again, saying I'm looking at the 2007 Impreza WRX STI. They added $2k to the Forester's MSRP. The STI had a $4k mark-up to the MSRP. The final asking price is around $38.5k.
The settling in process is very apparent. The people there were having difficulties with the computers. One girl had much trouble even logging into the computer system. The parts guy said they had just put in their chemical orders and won't have the stuff until later this week.
The good points are that the current service manager seems to be a nice guy (although he doesn't seem to have Subaru specific experiences) and the service price seems to be fair (I compared 60k + spark plug change prices between SoF and what I paid at Carlsen Subaru). Another good point is the parts guy, after telling me they don't have chemicals, came back and suddenly questioned if I had a manual or automatic transmission. He is knowledgeable enough that Subaru does not sell manual transmission fluid in quarts, only automatic tranny fluid.
Overall, I walked out of the dealership feeling disappointed in light of these facts. I'll probably still go to Carlsen Subaru if I buy a new Subaru and for service.
Cliff notes:
Postive:
- Service manager seems to be a good guy
Negatives:
- Prices horribly suck
- Parts inventory isn't complete
- Settling in process is very apparent
- Lone mechanic is from Stevens Creek Subaru

Ug... That sucks. I knew it was coming. Oh well... We'll give them time to clean up their act. They have much potential for success, or perhaps failure.

I just talked with Unit 91 (Ryan) from NASIOC, he's a moderator there... Originally from SoCal, he recently moved to the Bay Area and just got hired at Fremont Subaru... So hopefully he'll make an impact on management. He wants to get a car show-type thing going on sometime in the near future... So perhaps there is hope.
