Insurance rates...

Ok so I just added my 06 WRX to my policy, and I found it a little troubling that it cost more than my 04 FXT. I got quoted $800 for 6 months with a deductible of $1000 for both collision and comprehensive. The 04 FXT was only $300 for 6 months with the same policy. So for 6 months I would be paying $1100 for both vehicles. Does that sound right?? I have a clean driving record as well.

The WRX is a high exposure vehicle, it should be no surprise that its premiums are higher than the Forester (even if it's a turbo).

This its the same reason c5 corvettes were(are?) cheaper to insure than f-bodies.

Makes sense....unfortunately my insurance agent was unable to answer that question. He was puzzled himself. Thank you guys for the fast response.

Seems a little high...I have Statefarm and Pay $146 a month on my 11 wrx under my name. $500 deductible, 20 years old, good student discount...so unless your my age it I would expect it to be a lot cheaper.

Yeah my 05 LGT limited was cheaper to insure than the 03 wrx I have now......

I just can't see it being that cheap at your age. Mine's under my dad also.

WRX is considered a sports car, how can you compare that to an FXT?

Ways to get cheaper insurance

Turn 25
Clean record
Don't drive sports car

But any male under 25 is going to get raped in any sports car.

Part of the premium depends on what sort of limits and coverages the policy has, too. There's definitely ways to trim the proverbial fat off a policy, then there's ways to really save big by gambling hahaha.

Right...it is my parents policy but I'm rated number one driver and the only driver. We do get some deductions because of things my parents qualify for but I still get the bill very 6 months and its still $146 a month lol, the rate went down recently because of my clean slate...

I pay $160 a month for my 06 wrx

I'm also 18, but good grades helps.
Couldn't tell you deductible lol, still on my parents policy.
