Insurance question: What does uninsured motorist coverage... cover?

Recently there was an accident involving an uninsured motorist. That person was completely at fault. No license, no insurance, rear ended the other person.

The person who's car was hit does have uninsured motorist coverage.

Now my question. What does that cover? Does that mean:

A: Neither party has to pay a dime to cover the costs of the repairs because the insurance company is responsible

B: Guilty party has to pay the others deductible but the repairs are still going to be covered by the insurance or...

C: The uninsured guilty party is going to have to pay for everything and the only person who is taken care of is the person who was hit?

I'm curious because I always had the understanding that uninsured motorist basically had to pay the court fines for driving with license insurance etc but didn't have to pay for anything else (damages)

Let me know your findings or ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE. Please site your information.

1.If you got hit by a motorist that does not have any insurance or have insurance but not enough coverage to cover your damage, then the Uninsured Motorist coverage from your auto policy will cover your property damage and bodily injury damage to your party. But do not forget to get the other party information also such as license plate number, first & last name, driver license number and if possible phone number and address.
2.If your vehicle got hit & run, the Uninsured Motorist should cover the damages to your vehicle without you paying any deductible. But for the Uninsured Motorist to kick in on this matter, someone should witness the hit & run and at least give you the license plate number of the vehicle that hit your vehicle. If not then Collision coverage will cover the hit & run damage and as you know the deductible will apply.

I hope that information will help you.
