How about a little friendly vendor competition? I know we can't race our cars, but what about something like a car push race? Which team can push their car across the finish line first?
Just an idea... there are many other similar options.

Well there are other options like what people used to do for fun as kids at events: 3 legged races, spoon & egg races, water-balloon fights, etc. Just have to get creative with the events.
Heck, we could do some of the crazy events from Japanese Game Shows or whatever. I was at a birthday party last year where there was a rubber ball (like a dodgeball) and everyone was assigned a number. There was a rope ring put on the ground that you couldn't go outside of the ring. The first person would toss the ball in the air and call out a number. The person who's number was called had to run and catch the ball and then call another number. If the ball hit the ground, then everyone had to freeze and the person would throw the ball at another player. The player would try to dodge, but still had to remain standing. If someone missed 3 other players, then the player would lie down on their stomach and everyone in line got 1 chance to kind of pelt the person with the ball. Basically it was some weird mix of Freeze Tag, Dodgeball & 3 Flies Up.

"What is this an obstacle course for ANTS!?!?"
I think the softball idea would be cool, or any sort of field sport is always fun
Stafford lake was really fun, but the heat was horrible IMHO. lol I dont do well in the heat to begin with so I had a hard time out at the park. I cant imagine having to play a sport in the heat.
