I'll be at Rally Mexico, but I don't see any of Europe, Oz or Japan on my budget this year

If you mean in the U.S., yes, but they are not World Rally Championship events.

Like was mentioned, no WRC, but here in the states we actually have 2 rally championships;

Rally America has their "National Championship":

http://www.rally-america.com/

Of which the Pikes Peak hillclimb is but one round-

NASA Rallysport has their "US Championship":

http://www.nasarallysport.com/

http://www.unitedstatesrallychampionship.com/

Rim of the World in Southern Cal in May is NASA, I think the closest Rally America Championship event is Oregon Trail in April.

Admitedly it isn't WRC, but its all good, I think we will be seeing a lot of growth in Rallying here in the states the next couple of years

- especially if more of you homebodies come out for some events!!!

I know, but Pikes Peak is just as cool, and MUCH closer than Europe.

I'd like to go to the mexico one this year with Pete, but i don't get as much vacation time as he does. So once again i most likely will not be seeing one live.

I do have connections however that live VERY close to where the Sardinian WRC Ralley is run. Maybe one year down the line i'll be able to go back there and watch it.

With two competing organizations, its going to be a battle to see if either of them can impress the FIA folks enough- and line up event sponsorship to pull off a WRC round, but I can speak from knowing first hand that both groups are trying.

I've heard the organizing costs run between 12 and 20 million, and neither Rally America or NASA Rallysport are playing with that kind of dough, but that doesn't mean it won't happen, just a matter of getting the right corporate backing and stuff.

The other factor is that it takes something like 1500-2000 volunteer workers for a WRC event, so we need more of you guys to get out and work local events so we can get that kind of worker pool lined up
