I run a Cobra daytona sport. Very well padded, narrower, and more supportive with soft, but supportive tall side bolsters. Paid under $500 for it and a Bride seat bracket. It's the best mod i've done and is definitely worth the money. My rough mountain roads on coilovers and thick swaybars is actually hardly uncomfortable now that I have a better seat. You won't be disappointed.
I keep saying that this is the weekend for me to change to Sparcos but then I think about losing that side airbag and how my face is my fortune and it puts me off.
Imagine having some fool hit you side on and then explaining to your insurance company that the reason you are badly hurt is because you swapped out a seat with an airbag for one without.
If it wasn't for that I would have swapped in some lightweight buckets years ago

Glen, next time you and I meet up I want you to take my car for a quick spin while doing some agressive cornering to see exactly how much safer the sparco seat is than the stock seat... Also, in the case of a roll over I'd probably die in the stock seats because they naturally sit so high so my neck would probably break... The Sparco seats sit sooooo much lower which not only gives you a much lower center of gravity but it gives you a really large gap between the ceiling and the top of your head, that's something people should remember.
When I first go my car I felt so unsafe because the stock STi seats sat so high that I started to worry about potential rollovers where the roof would cave in and possibly break my neck or induce a great deal of head trauma... The sparco seat I have no sits further back and lower which protects me in the case of a rollover. You're a tall guy so I know you probably worry about the same thing.
Seriously, next time we meet up we'll go for a drive so you can try out the Sparco EVO 2 that I have... Holds you in so tightly and improves handling soooooo much since you're firmly in place and don't have to worry about anything but turining the steering wheel (no need to hold on and slide around). I can no longer drive a car with stock seats, I feel like Im going to fall out...
I'm not kidding either! This EVO 2 has spoiled me greatly.

While your opinions on seat safety and side airbag effectiveness might make sense, I think Glenspen is right. An insurance company is not going to give a crap about our opinions on which seats "holds us better" when there is an injury they can attribute to the removal of OEM safety equipment.

Two of my friends are Farmers Insurance adjusters who come out to check the car after you get into an accident and both said it wouldn't matter what so ever.

I got hit at 120 on driver side door/fender area and my side airbags never went off. Don't think it would have mattered since I got thrown out of the seat anyhow.
