I need a new car guys, help me!

Ok, I sold my 05 WRX last saturday, I was sad, I put a lot of time and money into that car, but I wanted to start a new project.

Now, I really wanted a 350z, but I'm getting a lot of flaming going on from a few people. I really like the style, interior, sound, performance, etc. and I found a couple in my price range, but I'm getting second thoughts on whether or not I should get it.

There has been an issue with some Z's have oil consumption problems, specifically the 06 6MT Z with the new Rev Up motor. I made sure not to get a 06, so I found a couple of nice 07's.

I found a local 07 Blk/Blk 6MT Clean 31k Miles Asking $16998. It is a base model, so I might get LSD later on, but I don't know if I'll even *need* it.

I found a couple of other 07's, there are 2 silver 07's in LA with 30k miles, one is 15k and the other is 14k. And lastly, a White 07 in stockton that just sold at 15.5 with 34k miles. So this pricing on the black local one isn't too high, he could probably lower it a bit as well.

Now, I want to know, is it worth it? I like the car, but people say with the oil problem, it can be a hassle. I rarely drive the car (5-6-7k miles a year) and It only has 2 more months until the warranty runs out if it's 3 year/36,000 miles, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I just want to make sure I don't get a crappy beat up car that has problems, what do you guys think?

I'm not really interested in any other cars, I don't want older cars, I don't want american muscle v8 cause insurance/gas, I don't want more sedans. I just want something sporty, sounds nice, and is decently priced. My limit is like $16-18k.

I'm 6'4 btw, so I don't want any small cars like the RX8 or S2000. Give me your opinions on the 07 Blk/Blk Z and what I should do. Please don't flame me lol.
John

Sounds like you already have your mind made up on the Z. So why not just go with that then?

I'd recommend reading up on the Nissan Forums to see how that particular model is in the 350Z lineup. It seems like I heard quite a few knocks on the 350Z as they seemed to have lots of problems from the beginning to the end of the run. So I'd say do some research first and see what pops up on the forums as to potential problems. In the end, get what makes you happy as you are the one that has to drive it.

i say you get the car you want, not what other people want. if you really like the Z, go for it! i actually like the Z's, the way they sound, and look. hopefully this helps!

BTW, I don't think the Z would really be considered a 'big' car compared to those other 2 cars you mentioned. In fact the RX8 has more headroom and a longer wheelbase. Anyways, you pretty much sold yourself on the Z already. Just get it.

Yeah, I made my mind on the Z cause for what you're getting, what else is better? I can't afford a nice beamer, plus it's not fast/nice sounding like the Z. No american muscle. I like the car and it doesn't give the "ricer boy" look as if you were in an integra or civic when you pull up in a nice house.

I'm open to suggestions, but I've been going on and on, and I can't think of another 2 door coupe, that sounds nice, is quick, handles decent, looks decent, and is under $18k. If anyone knows, LET ME KNOW!

I did check a lot of forums, main problem is the oil consumption, but that is not as common on the 07 HR motor. The 07 has the HR motor which is a new, more powerful 7500 rev motor that is a LOT nicer than the previous years. Idk if it's really uncommon for oil problems or if they just have less miles so less owners ran into the problem yet, but since I rarely drive the car, I can change the oil and keep track religiously. I have warranty for another 2 months, if I have ANY signs of high oil consumption, I will take it to the dealer and tell them that the problem was discovered before my warranty ends, so it should be taken care of. Or do you think they will tell me, yeah, come back in 1000-3750 miles, OH, when you're warranty is gone, then you can pay us thousands for a new engine.

I heard some problems with the tranmission too, but I think if you just drive normal and don't abuse the car or track, it should hold up fine. There are issues with WRX tranny but mine never gave me any problems. So Idk.

That is true, I sat in the Z and pushed the seat all the way back and my head is like an inch or two max from hitting the roof. That is how I was in the WRX, but I have more leg room in the Z, my legs weren't straight in the WRX, I had to bend them lol.

The Z isn't too bad though, it was a comfy ride, as long as my head doesn't hit or my feet don't bend, I'm fine. The S2000 would be too tight imo. I've never been a huge fan of the RX8 either. Sound the car really matters to me, and a lot of regular imports don't sound that nice imo (No Offense lol).

I think it's cause there are a LOT more cars down there and there tends to be more wealthy areas down south, so cars don't have that great of resale value. Idk though, I hear there are TONS of 350z/G35's down there and they are overrated and driven by douche bags lol.

Kind of like overrated Mustangs up here and SRT4 drivers for douche bags put into 1 car haha. Idk, but I don't see many Z's when I drive, they are rare. And they are always stock, I think I saw 1 or 2 modded Z's in my life lol.

a used bmw is cheeper then you might think, same with Benz and Audi. Right now is a great time to buy a sports car, so many people are out of work and trading m3's for a kia...

How about a Volvo C30? It's FWD 2-door Hatchback. They come in 6MT and it has a Turbo 5-Cyl. Engine. I had one of those (A/T though and it's somewhat small so that's why it had to go.) But it was a great car. Cool interior and under $30K new with nice options.

One question, would this be your only car or do you have another for daily driving? I briefly looked into buying a Z back in 2006, but decided against it due to lack of any usable storage space. The rear strut tower bar takes up most of the hatch's space and prevents transportation of any large items (I do not think even regular carry on luggage bag would fit).

If you do get one, please do not rice it out and drive like a douche. I can't remember last time I saw a purposefully/tastefully modded Z. Every time I run into one on a highway or a meet, its all show and no go.

350z's are slow cars. It takes a lot of money to make those boats perform. That's why most people just throw on a set of wheels and slam it so they can look cool. When I see a 350z, more often than not there's a metrosexual asshat in his early 20's behind the wheel. Anyone else notice that?

i definitely don't think they're rare and can't agree with you on liking the sound of the engine, but every man to his own! do what you think you'll like.
