I only mention this because I do aid in technical job hires occasionally and since 2000 there are always WAY more applicants than there are positions so if someone doesn't answer, unless it is someone I have a preference for, I drop them.

On the flip side, I lost out on a job opportunity with BofA a couple of years ago because I missed the phone.

If you're just looking to pay bills, have you considered going through a temp agency? They might be able to help you find a temp job that works with your job skills/experience.

I've done AppleOne and Kelly Services (yeah, I actually did those both for over 4 years total in various situations). I went to AppleOne RIGHT when I got here. The woman DID NOT like me. She couldn't understand that I had two jobs at once. She just couldn't comprehend why I had overlapping job dates on my resume. I explained it FOUR times. No kidding. Then they couldn't figure out how to get my test scores from another location (I had the highest 10-key scores in Richardson's AppleOne location) because my last name was different. Yeah, I never heard from them and I can't say I would be happy to, considering the last words regarding me working for them consisted of her saying, "I really don't think we have anything that fits your skills as a nurse..."
Keep in mind that I have these skills listed in my resume:
shipping/receiving, accounts receivable, collections, billing, mailing/distribution, reception (single and multiple line), payroll, web design, insurance claims, data entry, customer service, tech support, management, dispatch, call center, PC building/troubleshooting, etc, etc, etc...
(No, not word-for-word)...

Apparently not something they staff for. :O

And, no, I'm not bitter.

hahaha, the big five sign... if you're talking about the one in Fremont, I debated that.

why dont you just work retail. spend one day pickung up applications. fill them out in one night. turn them in the next day. start calling them the day after that. you should have an interview with at least one out of ten retail establishments.
