That really sucks.
If i prove to the court that it is stock then i dont have to pay anything. I was thinking that i could get pictures and maybe a signed document from carlsen subaru saying they inspected it and its stock.

If its stock at the time that i prove it to the court then all is forgiven because its a fixit ticket....

what a headache this **** is

that's bull****.

Me personally. I'd take photos of my car. Then go to a dealership and take photos of 10 other cars. Stock. Get a brochure for the car. Then I'd go do the DB meter. Take video and photos.

Go to court.

Explain the plate deal.

You'll get off on both accounts.

Then I'd file a suit against the officer claiming profiling and ask for money based on that as well as the cost of everything envolved.

-db test
-photography
-prints, etc
-gas to and from anywhere you go that's involved
-etc

ring his *** home and get him in trouble for being a dip****.

Why didn't you just show him the exhaust shown in the owner's manual? Mine is always in the glovebox.

Yup they don't care what you have to say. They see a car with a spoiler and quickly assume it's a mod.
Oh and the way to prove it's not a mod exhaust is to tell the cop to get on his knees and look under the exhaust. He'll see the factory engraving:

There is no such thing as a ticket quota for police.
Cops don't get paid extra money when they give you a ticket.

My friend's dad was recently pulled over in his Camaro and got a ticket for tint, front plate, and exhaust. The tint was 75% (very light), the front plate wasn't on there when he bought the car used, and the exhaust was stock. Oh, he also got a ticket for parking on a bridge where he was pulled over...they told him to pull over there. Talk about getting hassled... He almost even got a ticket because the address on his license wasn't current: just moved 7 days prior. So, 4 BS Tickets on 1 stop and the officer was "letting him off easy" because he could have given 2-3 more. You know what my friend's dad said to us about it? "I shouldn't have said 'WTF did you pull me over for?'"

hmmmmmmmm....interesting....

seems as how my brother in law is a police officer as are many of my family members I can tell you strait up from their mouths.....

THERE IS NO TICKET QUOTA.

That would be illegal and when people found out all hell would break loose. But what there is and it's departmentally different is an IMPLIED QUOTA. Certain areas on certain beats are expected to write tickets. If you don't you will be talked to. They are ENCOURAGED to write tickets. The last weekend and the first weekend are the worst. People trying to get to their IMPLIED quota early or make it late. During certain times of the year they are ORDERED to write as many tickets as possible.

On the tint deal.....I'd take their *** to court and fight that ticket. I'm wondering if your dad's buddy was either an ******* or this didn't really happen.

California state tint laws.
Windshield. Can't have tint.
front/side windows. 70%
back/side windows. anything you want.
back window. anything you want.

oh....and it's not suppose to be any more reflective than stock and can be any color but shades of red.

sue the city...

profiling or gross ignorance... take your pick.

part of the settlement is a public apology from the cop...

Since when was having a non-standard exhaust illegal in the first place? Provided it conforms to the law.

wow.. this is my first time i ever heard SFPD pulling people over for no front licence plate....

I think that cop had nothing better to do.... other than that... SFPD are lay back/lazy.

From my experience they dont pull you over if you dont do anything stupid.
ie. I saw a lady was driving 35 on a 25 zone while a motorcycle cop was next to her. The cop honk and gave her the no no finger...

technically it is illegal to modify your exhaust in any way shape or form. There is a loophole law that they can write down if they feel like being *******s. It can be beaten and generally is not enforced.

The hot new ticket is the db ticket. That way you have to pay to get tested. Then pay for the paperwork and spend the time. It's bull.

I plan on getting tested just for the hell of it. That way if I pass I'll have the ticket in my glove box. Not that it will matter to the cop. But that way when I go to court I can tell the judge it's been tested and I informed the officer before the citation was given. Booyah!

weak, I was under the impression that as long as you didn't touch the cats and you were within dB limits it was gravy.
