Ya that road is not really a "fun" road, and the locals are not too happy to see people. Kinda the same deal as the road to Petrolia, except that one has some pavement left.

Never really had the same issues on the Petrolia drive. There seem to be fewer of those houses right on the road.

Dogs and cows? ... really?

I have to cancel on today due to more pressing matters that I have to take care of....let me know where you guys end up...

BTW I went to the end of jacoby creek road, and the end of S. Quarry road off of jacoby creek. Lot's of locked gates. And both roads end at a house. Went back home fieldbrook way and went down several promising roads one which goes back about two miles. Houses on both sides and ends at a forest service gate.

I'm going to look at some satellite maps for roads around there. But we need to get behind those locked gates.....

Taylor can you post the info for the public road that is locked but they will give you the key???

The majority of the locked roads around here are timber company roads. I uesd to have keys, but then Simpson sold their property to Green Diamond.

We have some good roads here, Here is a location to look up. I love this road and there almost no traffic when you get to South Fork RD and fun cruising area with over looks and canyon passes some good corners here and there and very scenic. I used to ride this with my 750cc street bike in 05 (its where I was a counselor for summer camp, in the summers its about 75-90 deg up there!). When you start up Hwy 199 it goes through the wooded redwoods with lots a sweet turns and a couple tighter corners and smooth long corners. When you end up on south fork rd its just a matter of how far you want to go. Take a look at the Google maps photos when you zoom in. Also If you look at my previous address which is where the location starts on google ive just got out of my car and the google truck snapped a shot. But here is the map, I hope it works.

EDIT: Its paved all the way!

Ya the South Ford Rd (AKA G-O Road) is a fun one, but do not let Google maps fool you: it does NOT go through all the way to Orleans. There is about 5-10 miles in the middle, more specifically at Chimney Rock, where it does not connect. The Karuk and Yurok tribes killed that plan after construction had began...I guess the Gov't tried to get it in before an injunction could be issues, but they failed.

The same goes for Highway 169 between Klamath Glen and Weitchpec.

Redwood National & State Parks; Tall Trees Trail, site of the world’s tallest tree (you must get a free permit and combination to the locked gate from the Redwood Information Center west of Orick between 8 a.m. & 2 p.m.); Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation; the Klamath River (California’s second largest) and the Trinity River.

A narrow, pastoral dirt road through grassy hills dotted with wildflowers in spring; woodlands and valleys. Outstanding views to the west of mountains and banks of coastal fog, from well over 3,000 feet elevation. You will pass through logged areas, however.

Yea thats right, Ive gone about 15-20 miles down south fork rd which was nice, but after that I dont remember where the cutoff was, but fun road none the less. Its just an idea and everyone would have to make a trip up here also, so I wonder if that would really work out either.
