Haha 3 of us with 750cc Deatschwerks....well, until the end of the week when I swap in some Injector Dynamics (matched and custom-adapted bosch injectors) 1000cc. If I could afford it I would go with the 2000cc but they are about $1k.
I know you did not ask, but here are my specs
:
- Locally machined and home-built Ej257 w/ 100mm JE pistons, stock 8.2:1 CR, stock heads, cossy bearings
- Garrett GT30r turbo, Tial .82 V-band hotside (Swaintech ceramic coated)
- Covert Performance custom v-band turbo kit (coated UP), v-band from headers to catback
- Perrin headers, swaintech coated, v-band header to UP
- 4" custom intake
- Perrin FMIC w/ blowthrough (hopefully replaced with a custom reverse manifold setup w/ a garrett or setrab core in near future)
- Perrin v1 fuel rails w homemade stainless line and -6AN connectors
- AVCR electronic boost controller w/ ability to adjust boost by gear
- Tial 52mm BOV
running 22 psi, 335 whp at 6300 without enough injector and potential for more boost. I am stoked to see what the next 2 weeks will bring!!

Hey does Ed give any dyno sheets with less smoothing? I am curious to see some of the dips in the topend and along the torque curve.
Also, what are your AFR, and what are your IDC% like after 6k RPM?
I am running about 10.5-10.7 most of the way, and as I said before I hit 100% at 6k RPM. This turbo is begging for some race fuel, as this boost level is just hitting it's efficiency range.

NP. I am not trying to hate BTW...recently a lot of Ed's Sac/Bay area customers are getting really defensive when people ask difficult questions online. Tuner war! hahaha it honestly cracks me up.
.
I eventually plan on tuning my own car, and these are the types of things that I have to think about.

thats nice and smooth, good numbers also for a mustang dyno. I had my ver8 setup with a 16g evo3 and only made 271hp on 92oct and 21psi. Atleast it was comforting to know that they said a stock sti put roughly 230hp on their dyno. btw do you have any pics of your car, I have passed through there a few times and have see a few different bugeyes, I never know if they live there or are just passing through just like me.

What are the mods
(I know what yours are Forrest
)
I did that once, got Screwed! Best bet is put yours up for sale and then buy a trunk with the wing, ooor just drill the holes and buy a wing. I can paint it for you, I know the right place for the paint! $24 a 12oz basecoat can and $14 for clearcoat 12 oz can, and it may take 2 cans each.
I just painted my new Prodrive front lip, and Side Strakes!! With 1 can basecoat and clear btw! I get the new JDM STi Ver. 7 Grill Today also!

I heard that the STI wing being heavier you need the STI wing spring as well so that your trunk stays open when you want it to. Its best to just swap the whole trunk.
What happened to swapping your old WRX motor into the RS?

Only way I would trade is drive to the guy that has it and swap it right then and there.....

Swapping is the way to go if you leave the county at all. A couple friends and I swapped trunks with a dude in a parking garage in Novato...took about half an hour. Just remember to swap the lock, and the trunk springs.
Yes you would need the stiffer spring, My trunk stays open if I open it up all the way, I had a wingless trunk before and now have the wrx spoiler but never changed out the tensioner. About the swap, She didnt want me to spend the extra time (a lot of downtime without a vehicle) and money on it when for a couple thousand more we could get a full wrx. So she is in the market for an 02-07 wrx. Unless she finds something else.

Taylor's car is tuned to around 10.5:1 down to about 10.3:1 by redline and its hitting about 85% IDC by redline. FYI, I believe he has 850's not 750's.
As far as smoothness in the graphs, since my graphs come from data logs from the ECU, they are limited by the data rate available. Most straight ODB-II cars have data rates that are too slow to show any more detail than the graphs already show. That being said, they do show any significant fluctuations in power throughout the powerband.
Back when we tuned Taylor's car, it was running very smoothly through the whole rpm range. Since then Taylor has had a little fender bender resulting in a broken FMIC pipe with a HUGE leak. He drove around like that for quite some time. We have since fixed this but I have not had a chance to drive the car since. We have also been speculating that his turbo is likely on its way out because it was basically free spinning for quite some time while he drove with the giant leak. The car/tune is definitely due for a good inspection to make sure nothing else has changed since the initial tune.
Thanks

BTW, no hate taken by this at all
.
I do think "a lot" is an exaggeration. I believe you're referring to the one instance with Silas and Paul. In that case it was a competing shop prodding the customer for information that had nothing to do with them, so some people got defensive. Its a tough call, but I don't think it was way out of line to get defensive in that situation.
In general, I'm always happy to share the details of any tune, car, or setup.
Thanks
