How's traffic on the 680 North(Fremont to vallejo) at commute times?

Never driven on the 680 from Fremont to Vallejo during commute times, how is that stretch during commute times? I'm driving up to Reno tonight from Fremont, should I take 880 to the 80? thats one of the worst ways, so I thought that the 680 might be better, any help or tips appreciated.

I don't remember how it is from fremont to the walnut creek area on 680, but i'm sure its better than 880.

After walnut creek, all the way up to the benicia bridge (vallejo area) its clear

I do that commute daily and there is NEVER traffic

680 from fremont until 580 is ridiculous after 4pm... it's all the cheap bastids that work in the bay but live in boonies aka tracy / stockton

The bottlenecks on 680 towards Vallejo are:

1) Calaveras (Milpitas) to Hwy 84 on the Sunol Grade
2) Main Street (Walnut Creek) all the way til past the Martinez Bridge.

Normally, it takes me 1 Hr to get to Fairfield from Milpitas, but during rush hour, it doubles.

its terrible, the 680 is just as bad as the 880. I usually take the 680 but have taken both many times. They are all ****ed, move to where you work. Read an article recently that said traffic was increasing in the silicon val area at a good pace.
