What did he do to do that?

Install a really long, heavy barrel?

Does it have some big scope?

I have a CAR-15 and a AR-15 Delta HBAR, and they're nice and all, but not sniper rifle material in my book...that's what my Steyr AUG with giant Swarovsky scope is for!

My first 357 at 13 and my first sawed off at 13.....raised in the ghetto....then the desert...shoot sawed off a pellet gun and would drive around on quads and chase jackrabbits and try to shoot them with a pellet gun....talk about a waste of ammo....lol. But hey I was like 9....it was good time.

Someone I know.......will remain unnamed...lol...has an ar-15 but it's been converted into a sniper rifle...sick as all hell. I think it's called an Sr-15? That right...don't know my assault rifle names....didn't play counterstrike enough.

Just a little tidbit on the AR-15 FYI... if anyone wants to know about other guns just ask me

If it's a Pre-ban AR (armalight) 15 then it's not illegal, Only one's sold after the Ban are illegal. AR-15 were never an automatic rifle... only semi-auto and those stupid hellfire kits never counted as a "full-auto".

They were orignally designed by Stoner Arms as the M-16 which was a full automatic version w/o the forward assist. the m-16 action was prone to getting clogged full of crap during vietnam so Colt bought the design from Stoner and began producing the M-16a and M-16a2(post desert storm version) with the forward assist. then LRRP units needed something smaller and capable of being HALO/HAHO'ed into enemy territory. So... Colt developed the CAR-15 (the automatic version of todays M4 carbine). The CAR-15 could fit easily into a 1950 weapons carrying case used by airborne/ranger/SF divisions to store the weapon during a jump (i personally broke my M4 down into the lower and upper recievers and stored it into my rucksack because my primary weapon was a CLU/Javelin AND M22 7.62x54NATO rifle). Then Colt decided to produce a AR-15's for the military buffs in the world and made it possible to interchange lower and upper recievers. This made it possible to have a Vietnam era CAR-15 lower reciever compatable with a brand new AR-15 upper reciever. This happened A-lot in the US... So if you look at your "automatic" "AR-15" and see 3 selectors on the saftey then it's not a AR-15.... it's been built but will still work fine.

Also, Stoner orignally designed the M-16 to be 7.62x54 NATO (308 WIN), Not 5.56mm (223 rem) which is why you're seeing Colt coming out with the GREEN .308win versions called the AR-10. Colt thought that was a bit much when they bought the contract and decided to use 5.56 because Uncle sam had a contract with Remington. Turns out that they made a good choice because all military versions of M-16's (even till this day) came in a 1:7 barrel twist which caused the bullet to go Ape Sh*t when it hit the target... the bullet could hit the enemies leg and exit the head. So keep in mind that YOUR AR-15 or whatver it is has a 1:9 barrel twist (unless it says for Government use only on the LOWER reciever and the UPPER reciever has the SAME serial# as the LOWER reciever). this means your 'civilian' weapon won't have as a dramatic effect on flesh.

BTW davheed... AWESOME SET-UP if you really do have a Steyr AUG with giant Swarovsky scope. Very nice. is it really a full auto AUG-8 or a Semi-auto USR?

BTW M4's and every other Colt assault rifle and the US's 'contract' with Colt... give me a HK-23 anyday! i'd rather have a working weapon in the desert than a weapon for the sake of keeping american jobs.

honestly I haven't shot it yet. Just what I am told from his brother who is a gun buff but could be wrong...I have seen pictures of it in action.

looks like a huge scope and the barrel looks longer to me but what do I know. All I know is it's hidden because it's illegal so maybe it's been turned auto...have no clue.

Never shot an assault rifle before. Only legal weapons....and some very old weapons. Like a mid 19th century revolver...still used teh metal *****. Craziness. And an old lever action 30/30.

I don't really have much of an interest in assault rifles honestly....I'd rather have a high quality perfectly balanced 30/06. Or a nice solid hand gun. Or a nice sniper rifle...I like the challenge of long range fire...should paint ball with me...nailed a guy from a quite a ways through board slats....no bigger than a ball and half tall. ....was a bunker. hit him in the face while he was lining up fire.

QUE!? I think i know what im talking about.... here's what i know from memory... A "Assault Rifle" is ANY rifle specially suited for combat operations or for effective combat ranges of under 400 meters, using an intermediate round such as 5.56 mm NATO (.223rem), or 7.62 x 39 mm (RUSSIAN), which is loaded into the rifle in a BOX MAGAZINE... civilian versions would include the AR-15 variants, as well as the AK 47 - assault rifles are characterized by their light weight and low recoil. Also assault rifles are defined (IN CALIFORNIA) by the non existant connected stock (ie pistol grip) the stock MUST BE connected via thumbhole to the lower reciever.

NEXT QUESTION please ....

BTW the SIG 55x Series of weapons features a AK Action which was a durable but **** poor in regard with accuracy. You probably would be lucky to get 2" MOA at 100M.

guess who came up with the "assault rifle" term?

you think armalite/stoner designed the AR and said "i'll call it an assault rifle?"

the dang liberal media came up with that term and politicians ran with it.

dont forget the 3 deadly features of an "assault rifle" as defined by kalifornia laws: hand pistol grip, (removable) flash supressor and easily removable magazines (i.e. without external tools).

as for a sniper based AR: http://www.wilsoncombat.com/store.cg...Category=30600

Understood, "assault rifle" is a liberal term... i was merely defining the term as such.

I thought i was beng given a lesson on weapons which made me laugh is all
