Look what happened to this guys hand after he tried cleaning his chain on his Suzuki GSXR.

With modern chains, you are not lubricating so much as cleaning when you use a chain lube. O-ring chains are self lubricated.
WD40 actually eats the rubber in the O-rings, so you shouldn't even be using that.
