Cliff Notes: Ferraris hopping up their cars for the press to drive. The press is pissed because this doesn't represent what the consumer will get but are to scared to say so. Somebody finally spoke up.

This is very old. Ferrari has been doing this for a long time, to the owners it's more about the image imo. Kinda sucks for the consumer who can afford the car and is expecting a lot more performance then they really are getting. Especially if the driver can actually take the car to the limit.

I found it interesting when the guy had setup to drive his friends ferraris for fun, he was **** blocked by ferrari afraid he'd do press on it.

-basically they must be allowed to test and tune at the location before the reporter drives it
-Even put stickier rubber than street cars on these test cars
-Consumer car he tested was full 2 seconds slower to 100 than the "magazine car"
-tested scuderia f430 vs. lambo gt2 and they blew it away contrary to magazines articles.

Bottom line likely the ferrari you get if you can afford one is not nearly as fast as claimed.

This coming from Chris Harris, he seems like a very fair and considerate person.

That's pretty nuts, and a really smart though albeit scummy business tactic.

"how ***king paranoid do you have to be to put even stickier rubber on a Scuderia? It's like John Holmes having an extra two inches grafted onto his ***k."

i laughed.

Who gives a ****. IF you can afford a Ferrari, you can afford to make it faster. Most cannot drive them for crap anyway. BFD

don't let Massa see this article or else he's going to think Alonso has a better Ferrari.

Aren't press ringers de rigeur in the automotive industry? Especially turbo cars like ours, where it's easy to bump up boost a couple psi for a huge difference? Maybe never confirmed, but widely assumed and accepted in the industry?

That's why road tests should be done on a random model from a random dealership.
Every MFG has a test mule or press car they send for road tests. Who knows what state of tune is in the press mule with the advance of ecu tuning these days.
I'm sure almost very MFG would do something, maybe not to this degree, but similar to boost a magazine test
