"Hi-Rev Tuners" grows up.... a bit

OK, maybe a bit more than a bit. I'm watching the "engine swapping episode" Its a far cry from the earlier days of stickers and APC accessories! But the engine swap is still on a Honda ... from some 70hp POS to a "more horses under the hood" 140hp B18something...

... still watching...

wow they just got this engine out of the Honda in 5 or 6 minutes and everyone's hands are clean! Gosh that must be easy!

Man, I'd love for us to do a public access show of our own...

yeah i saw the episode also, they have definatly taken it a step up, but still have a little further to go.

why swap a b18b into a civic if you are not going to turbo it?

i mean civics already come with 127hp why put a heavier motor in htat only has 140? they need to turbo that thing, if they are going na, they should have put a b18c or b16a, or better yet b18c5

but that show hsa definatly gotten better

Well for that matter, why work with b16 or b18 motors? The latest (for Honda) is stuffing the K20 into a Civic. Or *cough* how about putting a WRX or STi motor into a GC8. Or an SR20DET into an S13 or S14 (yes, its been done to an S14).

If the most popular rags are dealing with "modern" motor swaps, why can't HiRev ?

i just mentioned the b16 and b18 engine since those are among the most popular engines swapped into civics

I dunno about actual statistics, but it would seem to me people are doing more swaps in the honda crowd than people in the subaru crowd, and i know that SR20 swaps are very common, but based upon my uninformed impressions, and the fact that they're probably shooting for the teens-mid 20's demographic, honda swaps seem to fit into the "popular" taste, and hence you have the b18 swap.

Don't forget the show's roots, they have to be really gradual if they wanna shift towards our idea of improvement, otherwise their ratings will drop when they start doing things that most of those kids out there can't afford to do all of a sudden
