I've switched back and forth but I've usually been happiest with nvidia. I found a 460 on CL for $100 bucks in shrinkwrap locally so I might pick that up.

at this point I just need my machine up and running.

(BTW my card that died was an EVGA :/)

You can get 1.5TB external hard drives for about $100. There was a $60 Western Digital 1.5TB during Black Friday. I'm sure you can find others. Costco.com has a Seagate 2TB drive for $100. It's also $40 off. Not sure if that $100 price is before or after the discount (most likely after). Best Buy has a 2TB Western Digital for $109.

Look around online and I'm sure you'll find a good price for a 1.5-2TB hard drive.

I personally would be careful of TB, or really big drives like that. There was some issues with them failing more frequently.

I guess that's irrelevant now as the 7200.12 has been out (and I have one in my computer, but a 500gb one)

There are also a few if you look on google that explain why the failure occurs. It has to do with the same mechanics the hard drive uses, but because it's a more compact area (more space without change in speed) the hard drives have to work harder in a smaller space. Or somethin of that nature.

This might be aimed at the external hard drives. I do know that internal hard drives are almost becoming the norm to have 1TB in them.

EVGA is great if you know nothing about computers. I used to be a big EVGA fan boi. Learned my lesson.

Going back to ATI.

the best part of ATI used to be the Rage Underground, and them writing their own drivers and making them available

thanks ATI for shutting them down!

same here, no problems with mine. I have 1 Seagate external hd that's 1.5TB and 1 Western Digital that's 1TB that I bought when TB hds were becoming the norm.

My friend has about 5 1.5-2TB Western Digital hds and he's never had a problem with them. All of them are packed with movie files lol

I just bought a single GTX480 for now (EVGA). Its running fine. Just keep your drivers updated. Maybe in the future, i'll buy its twin and sli them. I had a bad experience with Ati in the past, namely with drivers. I've went nVidia and never looked back.

I had an EVGA 790i mobo but sold that to a friend and am trying out the ASUS Rampage III Formula.
