450 is considerably behind the 460, a lot of cards fall in between on ATI's part. If you're going to be that area, get at least the 460. And SLI'ing really isn't going to make too huge of difference unless you're playing max settings and have a big screen resolution. Even a 5850 plays most games extremely well.

" Chart seems a bit off it. The HD5970 still beats the GTX 580 and the HD6990 will be another level up entirely. Beyond that;
HD6970 = GTX 570 = GTX 480
HD6950 = HD5870
HD6870 = GTX 470(= GTX 560?)
HD5850
HD6850 = GTX 460 1gb
HD5830 = GTX 460 768mb "
"Radeon 5970, GTX 580 (Radeon 5970 is ((380$-700$)), once again, AMD clearign stock so the occasional deal pops up once in a while. GTX is 500$.
Gtx 570, Radeon 6970 (GTX 350$, Radeon 375$)
Radeon 6950 300$
Radeon 5870 (210$-220$-280$) (AMD clearign stock some deals out there)
Radeon 6870 245$-250$
Gtx 470 (Idk, Should be 185$ though)
GTX 460 1gb, Radeon 6850, Radeon 5850 (150$-170$) "

I bough BFG before they folded. I had some 7 and 8 series cards go south on me, and BFG was awesome on replacing them with no questions asked. I was sad when they went under
I was on stock air and the H50 got pretty good reviews. When I get new cards, I will do full water blocks with them, but for now, it gets me by

I got a tub full. BFG, I had no attachment to them.
You're insane.
Evga == Crap on a stick.
I used to buy EVGA all the time. Then after having a card go bad and them sending me 2 DOA cards as "replacements" I switched to BFG. Now that BFG is gone... I'm going XFX.

the name says it all. Their mobos are the best. They make the best stuff. I OCed the video cards too. They were great and ran stable.
I'd just do some research. Too many of you guys are bandwagoners dismissing ATI against Nvidia and have biases. ATI does compete with Nvidia quite well, don't let these staff members persuade you =P.
And I highly doubt you're interested in spending 500-1,000 on one or two graphic cards. So if that really isn't the case, SLI 580 GTX's probably won't be ur goal.
However, even on choice of product usability and what you want to do with your computer, you should read in depth more rather than runnin around with these guys. If it's just a single card, I'd take a look at benchmarks and your current chipset. Middle of the pack items are easy to figure out which one works which way at what resolution. When it hits high end, even a single 6970 is picked vs a 570gtx by Tomshardware. Again depending on your personal use.

I do not wish that on my worst enemies.
