sooooooo much temptation...not enough garage space or time to commit to it

i've also been doing hella reading on these engines and did find threads which affirmed an early failure, but it only seemed to be a handful. others complain about little noises and what not they hear upon start up and other instances....don't know though...

The dealer gave me an XV crosstrek as the loaner vehicle but the pick up is just way to slow on it. Its a nice car and all, but dude, give it a bit more power!

I really may join club fozzy though if it comes down to that. Maybe get the top of the line NA model.

I had a NA '14 forester as a loaner for 3 weeks. Even with the CVT, it was good fun around town and got great gas mileage. Drop it on some springs, sway bars, and a nice set of tires you'll have yourself a fun commuter that gets good mpg with plenty of utility.

My friend has an XT and it just eats up gas but is also fun.

I wouldn't worry too much about the new engine too much. The Forester XT has shown good results so far which shares the same engine, but the WRX is slightly improved with lower boost. The BRZ/FRS is not really comparable, it doesn't even have an oil cooler.
