wait, the dude is 21 and the way i read it is he's buying the car? why does he have to convince his parents of anything? an adult with his own money can do whatever he wants.

unless it's zoeb who still lives with his parents... in which case, do what i used to do and just show up one day with a new car. works every time.

If this kid isn't a minor and is paying with his own money why does this thread even exist.

His parents are putting the huge down on the car. So they are "buying it" for him.

Sorry if it didn't make sense . I was high off of gas fumes from doing my fuel pump. :rotfl:

^^^^ HAHA Well how much are they putting down? Enough that it'd be worth making the decision for him? If it's only a few thousand I'd say to hell with it and get my own that way they'd never be able to take it away from me.

yea right.... not to mention insurance is crazy on the STi, even more than alot of bimmers and benzes.

he's 21? why not just get a job, make his own $$, and buy his own car? if i had lived at home during college, i would've had enough $$ to by my own car years ago (i'm 23 and bought my own WRX). a lot of my friends are 22-24 and a lot of them were able to buy their own car (everything from honda accords to infiniti g35's and audis) after getting jobs, etc...

Yea I got my first car when I was 16. Paid that ***** off in full! 1963 Vw Bug. Loved that car to death. Spent complete paychecks on restoring it.

just show them the video of that dude that got crushed between 2 semis and walked away.

That should be enough to sway them right there. Subaru's are safe as hell.

Well maybe they're more of a theft target out there but no one in New Orleans would ever steal a Subaru (knock on wood). Too many Land Rovers and Porsches around here to bother. But yeah, if I could live at home I would have been able to have damn near anything I wanted. I bought the best car I could without payments. I do wonder sometimes why I didn't look into an MR.

Oh OK. Well if it's substantial get whatever you can. Can't complain over free money no matter what it is. ****, give me a Yugo if you want. If it's free I'll drive it. BTW, any of you guys ever buy cheap cars and run them into stuff. That's the greatest thing ever.

BMW > Subaru ....especially if the BMW will be in the 40K range.... a 40K BMW is better then a 30K subaru....unless all you do is plan on modding the Subaru.

Saftey?...BMW has great saftey features...

Especially if its an M car,

Benz...I wouldnt settle if it wasn't an AMG since most Benz's come with autos and autos suck..
