Help I need a Job
Well, my three month working at home period is up Friday and I've been looking for a job out here. Lots of opportunities, but lots of competition too. I have about 4 years experience with most of the following: SQL Server, ASP, Vbscript, vb6, vb.net, .Net, DTS, Replication, cold fusion, and more. If anyone has any leads for a web developer or similar field, please let me know.
Thanks,
Rich
Thanks,
Rich
have you gone to a temp agency? a lot of corporate companies including mine only hire contractors that way. The reason I say contractor because most company are not hiring regular full-time at all. but they still hire contractors. good luck

Yeah, I used to work for Robert Half International and I've been in contact with them already. They have a few leads, but I want more options. I've also contacted MacArthur associates about a few leads too. The people at the agencies rarely call back after leaving voice mail, so I have to be really persistant. I don't like being without a job and I want to get more stuff for my car too.

I would suggest looking out of state. I have noticed (after 6 months unumployment) that the rates as a contractor are significantly lower in the bay area (by as much as $15/hour!!! ) than the rest of the country.
That along with the cost of living.... sigh, as much I hate to admit it, but it looks like it's time to move on. bummer too, because I really like it here.

hmm... Really? The couple of jobs I've been looking at were about 10-20K bumps in pay from what I was making in Wisconsin. I actually just moved here 3 months ago, so I'm not going to give up yet.

i'm in a similar situation. i got laid off last tuesday, and i'm now looking for employment again after three and a half years with the same company. however, there isn't much out there right now, i checked monster, dice and a couple of others and there are maybe a dozen positions for UNIX admins in the whole bay area. i swear, it's like the only people they're hiring are sales guys...

It's not great out here either, we came because I had a job offer and my wife was lucky enough to find something after a few months.
Good luck, and I hope you manage to stay out here.

www.dice.com might be a good place to search. Also, you may want to consider looking at a different type of job -- it seems web jobs just aren't out there anymore.
