Yeah you'd be surprised how scared criminals are of dogs. Once they hear that barking they bug the **** out. A lot simpler than having to shoot them

lol BARF has turned into stormfront lite. it used to be fun.

Seems like a lot of you are saying the .357 is a good reliable choice. Obviously easy to navigate halls with it to.
How are glocks? and how pricey and reliable are they?
not sure about the new ones, but some of the older ones tended to jam if you limp wristed them.. .357 is the way to go.

My glock has never jammed. I've put thousands of rounds through it, and my girlfriend shot it with no limp wrist jamming at all. Glocks are great guns

I love my Glock. I've never had it jam on me.

That said, one of my pansy friends had it stovepipe because he limp-wristed it. Weak sauce.

Jesus, the insecurity in this thread and forum is gigantic. The glock jamming due to limp wristing is a known issue and since this is supposed to be someones first gun without proper shooting technique it could be an issue. Light frames have a drawback.

The mini 14 with a har-bar I'd put within a 1/2" of a decent AR any day of the week if we're talkin .223 and clean it 1/2 as much. All for around $500
Let's see where the AR platform has the Mini 14 beat...

1. Ergonomics
2. Accuracy
3. Modularity

Not saying the Mini 14 is junk, but it's just not in the same league as an AR. Also IIRC, the Mini 30's will not feed steel cased x39 ammo. So you're actually better off with an SKS or AK in that situation too.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Glock's. They are well proven guns with extremely hi quality-control. You have to spend twice the money to get a semi-auto you could honestly say was better.
Personally, I've never liked the feel of Glock... grip angle is wrong (for me) and the trigger feels notchey. But that's personnel preference. I like the Springfield XD's feel better myself; but the design is very similar.

I preferred my USP over pretty much all sub $800 ones that I'd tried
