Headlight restoration? Anyone done it?
Tried the Turtle Wax version today. It seems to work better than the other brands I've tried. I've never seen my headlamps this clear before. I applied the sealer so we'll see how it holds up.

I did mine myself more than a year ago with a kit that had different grits of sandpaper. I attached the power drill to it and it worked out pretty good. You have to remember to spend a ton of time on some of the rougher grits or else it wont come out as good. My lights had a ton of scratches and what not and I got most of them out.
They recently started to oxidize but thats because I didnt take care of the lights and reapply the coating. I'll likely be redoing the procedure again. The first time I spent about 15mins per light. This time I plan on doing it right and spending atleast 30mins per headlight.

I did the wet sandpaper route before using 800, 1000, 2000, no drills or kits or anything..then following up with plastic polish. Looked like glass when it was done, smoother than my paint job, and the yellow was gone for another 3 years. (on my old VW..you know how bad the VW lights on the 02-04 GTI/Jettas are...its like yellow construction paper)

I've used the turtle wax one twice myself, as long as you take your time and follow the directions it turns out well. But once done for regular maintenance pick up some Plast-X and use it once you see a little hazing. Saves you from having to redo everything again and again. Also theres a "headlight sealer" made by blue magic you can pick up at O'Reilly's. Havent used it but ide imagine its similar to the sealer they use in the kit (which only has one application's worth)
