for what it's worth, i was able to gain 27lbs of torque when i got retuned and the only new mods on my car was the jdm v7 tmic and gruppe-s headers.

then on alchohol injection, when i was retuned, i gained another 30lbs of torque. *shrugs*

verc - u go thru 2gallons of meth in 1 month? damn! i go thru that in like 1-2 weeks =\

Perrin's rebranded Aquamist setup is great.
Yes, it costs more than other kits, but it's a well engineered kit, not a thrown together kit using RV parts.

Plus, it has a few safety features that makes it 2nd to none.
You can cry a little doing right the first time, or cry alot when your engine is being replaced.

No, the various systems are not the same.

Perrin/Aquamist is a purpose built system.
Other brands are not.

well with respect to the torque gain, as I always say: "Horsepower and a powerband moves cars, torque is what people who forgot the difference between power (HP, a force applied over time) and force (torque, a nondimensional force) say moves cars" I also gained a good amount of mid range torque with headers - but my main HP gain and hence ability to scare my passengers, was with the alky.

AzN121184 - Actually I meant I went through 2 refills (so a gallon) in a month driving normally, but yeah I would through a gallon a week if flooring it all the time. I commute so I can't exactly go WOT all the time stuck in bay area traffic

To clarify on the difference, Perrin maps on IDC so it allows you to tune 'normally' and match the alcohol/water being injected with the fuel. The Perrin vs. SMC is like comparing tuning a DSM reflash vs. an S-AFC. The latter is "caveman" tuning but does the job and plenty of 10 second DSMs running that.

The SMC is boost triggered - you tell it when to start spraying and when to spray fully. So the problem here is airflow and fuel isn't strictly dependent on boost, you might be sprayiing too much in the midrange or too little up top. Still, it does the job and the truth is people have been running boost activated alky setups in daily driven setups for 20 odd years.

Also, the Perrin is almost 1000 dollars while the SMC is <500 and takes like an hour to install at home.

You can use any percentage blend of water to alcohol...just not ethanol...with Perrin/Aquamist.
