My car has been in and out his shop a couple times over the past 2 weeks. My car is a wrb bugeye with gold mesh bbs rgr's with chrome lip.
I thought he said the headers were 1500 and the up pipe was 500. those headers were crazy nice though. extremely light weight.

I've been considering headers, but how much do they kill the suby sound?

With my HKS headers I think my car sounds like an honda from the inside. Recently I heard my tuner drive off in my car and the boxer sound is still there from the outside, but its more raspy. The HKS headers have a different bend compared to most headers out there, so other headers may help keep the rumble better. As long as you don't go equal length the rumble should still remain.

It'll sound somewhat honda-ish but it isn't too bad. When I got the tomei headers (unequal length) I also switched catbacks (jdm hks silent hi power) so that may have influenced the sound as well. Like Chubs22 said, I'm not sure how it sounds outside of the car, but inside it sounds more like an inline 4.
Here's a sound clip (scroll down a bit) of the tomei headers from another poster from nasioc:

Still has the boxer sound outside I guess

I never said headers were worthless, I just feel there are better mods, namely a turbo

As for alky, the pump is a fuel pump - so the chances of your tuned alcohol injection blowing up your motor is pretty much the same as your fuel pump failing and blowing up your motor, which is not that high.

why not have crucial port/polish and coat your stock ones and get an injen cross pipe and have it coated. Be cheaper and it's a nice set up. It's what is on my car right now.
besides....equal length headers kill the awesome suby sound....

yeah i mean, vf39 + tmic + alcohol = 400hp, man. The alcohol really helps with intercooling. With a stock WRX turbo you will always be SLOW no matter what you do.

When my wrx was just catless I did vf30 w/o the fuel - I still gained 30whp over my tuned catless setup on stock tmic, stock fuel pump, stock fuel injectors

LOL I'm sorry for pushing alcohol everytime (I'm probably getting annoying), I just think it's the greatest mod out there.

Everyone talks about it like it blows motors - really? Cause I've READ stories of people blowing motors, I've NEVER MET in person or physically spoken to someone who did. Brings the question then - did these people blow their motors because of alcohol, or because they didn't know what they were doing

Mike at GST, Ed at EQ, both have had experience in tuning alcohol setups for daily drivers.

Dude you basically gain 100 octane for free (I use like 2 gallons of meth a month driving 1000+ miles which is 7 bucks? I used to run 100 octane @$5.50+ a gallon) which is 40-100+ hp depending on the turbo you're running.

And lastly - didn't you know people blow their motors on catless setups? Heck people blow their motors on 100% stock cars. I'm sure you already knew - to have the funds for a replacement before even starting to mod the car.
