he should have thought about it better before he bought Subaru rims for a Honduh Civic.
.......or were they actually Honduh rims that you were selling?
Usually private party sales are always "as is" by default, unless you would have specifically said...."hey, if they dont fit, return the rims and I'll give you your money back."
I mean, you wouldnt go to a garage sale and buy something then try to return it would you?

I think he mentioned that it was the lugs that were a problem. Tell homeboy to get a new set of lugs then. Unless for some odd reason he misunderstood the difference between 5x100 and 5x114.3 (97+ Preludes, 98+ Accord V6, new Civic Si, RSX, etc).
yeah

And I did do the stupid thing and sold them from my house, so hopefully he wont go crazy and go to my house and mess it up.
Tell him "Me and my two friends, Smith and Wesson don't do refunds". (joke) Just a rip off line from one of the Dirty Harry movies.

I got a reply from him today, he says the pattern is why the rims dont fit, so this makes me not want to refund even more. Thanks everyone for your opinions and with that I have come to the conclusion that I had given him all the specs he saw the rims, measured them, and so forth, so it isnt my fault he did not do research. And what it comes down to is I dont have the money to return even if I wanted to, haha.

*rolls eyes* Tuner n00bs who don't know their own car for something as simple as remembering the bolt pattern. I guess that guy's learning the hard way. Hehe.

Keep it businesslike, not personal, because that's what it is. Leave the insults and name-calling out of your communications with the buyer, even if he loses patience. You aren't ripping the guy off, nor was that your intention. If you had mislead the buyer by telling him that the wheels would definitely fit on his car, that would be a different story. I don't think that's the case here.
It isn't really a matter of whether or not you've already spent the money to pay bills, because that implies an obligation to eventually refund the money when you get it.
When you e-mail or talk to the buyer, simply state that you did not try to deceive him in any way. You stated the specifications for the wheels to the best of your knowledge. It was up to him to determine applicability (do the wheels fit my car?). This was not an internet purchase where he did not have an opportunity to view and measure the wheels firsthand. The product is not defective.
Save all e-mail correspondence. If things go very badly (hopefully not), you might have to print copies for the police.

Thanks WinglessWonder for your information, my following email was like this;
I was not able to respond on a early days because I did not have my computer. As for the rims, I cannot refund your money. I am not trying to rip you off, nor was that my intention. If I had mislead you, the buyer, by telling you that the wheels would definitely fit on your car, that would be a different story. I answered your questions to the best of my knowledge. So, I am sorry that they do not fit, but I cannot offer a refund on them.
Is there anymore I should of said to him or anything else I should say if he responds?

If by chance his tone turns ****ty, stay cool and try to get him to give up some of his contact info so that you can get back to him when you're 'not busy'. His real name and phone number would be useful. Then you can call the cops on him if things get ugly.
