outdoor places like chabot in castro valley.

los altos gun range has a nice skeet setup.

they dont rent though.

only place i know that rent shotties is targetmasters in milpitas. but they are indoors.

i dont know if reeds (off H101 in san jose) rents shotties. i know they rent handguns.

buy a cheap mossberg from big 5 for around $270...

most people like to use over-under 20 gauge or .410s but ive gone with my pistol grip mossberg before and hit 18 on the skeet and 20 on the trap

lol, everything you just said kinda went over my head. only thing i could understand was why you would use something smaller than a 20gauge. 12gauge would just have too much kick right?

Its really preference, I do trap/skeet with a 12 guage and am fine with it. I don't really know of any outdoor places that rent, but if you find someone with a shotgun los altos gun club off skyline is great for trap/skeet.

traditional skeet shotguns are 2 shot over/under or side by side. you know, that kind that you"crack" open to insert and eject the shells.

and they tend to be in the HIGH END side. tighter tolerances, better fit, massive complicated engravings, etc...

but you know, a 12 gauge mossberg you buy at big 5 this weekend for $249 (ocrrection) will shoot the same 12 gauge shotshell as the $8000 perazzi or krieghoff O/U... lol...

personally, i own a remmie 870 tacti-cool shottie and i can just imagine the looks when i walk into the skeet lanes...

for my i-club needs in the shotgun world:

I'll shoot skeet and trap with the same gun I hunt upland birds with, my 12ga. It's not that I'm cheap and don't want to buy an O/U, I just love the feel of that Remington 1100.
