That is one of the stupidest arguments i've heard in a while.
It is State LAW. no buts about it.
So what exhaust are you running? Helix? Nur-spec? some thing stupid loud?
Probably. it helps to try not to be noticed.

IIRC, on a 4 door car, the windows on the front doors CAN HAVE tints. but it is very mild. like it can only block like 18% of the light.
i mean it's like close to NO TINT...
this was a law urged on by cops. it makes it harder to do stops when they cant see into the driver's windows, especially at nite...
so if you tint the front windows, make sure you get the tint place to get the right one...

once they have stopped you for that infraction, they can start tacking on stuff, after stuff...
a few years ago, when kalif finally passed the seat belt law, making it mandatory to wear seat belts for everyone, i was watchin this tv news piece where the news reporter rode along a CHP.
early on they were just giving warning. 1 stop i remember was this lady with the fuzzy dice. once the lady was stopped, the CHP was then able to search the passengers in the car to make sure they were belted. and IIRC, they werent...

- Window tint
- Hood scoop (even if it's stock)

- Lowered suspension
- Large tach and other visible non-stock gauges
- Body kits
- Under-car lighting (not illegal if done properly)
I would also guess that they would look for the following:
- Custom paint
- Badgeless
- Cleared headlights
- Aftermarket seats
- Roll cage
And for what it's worth, my uncle knew that my dual-tip Stromung exhaust was not stock. And we thought dual-tip was stealth mode... Guess not ;-)

Hes also a long time veteran, and knows his cars. He's much unlike most cops, especially that blonde woman ucpd cop that thinks we are street racers simply because we stand around in a parking lot.
