Did I say high end? I said "good" and they are because I've heard them. Thanks for the comment. They're better than bose, but I guess you're the most knowledgeable so you recommend some? Have a nice day.

Best Buy is tight. I work there. Yes, Magnolia Hi-Fi is a division of Best Buy (Best Buy bought them). But think of it this way, the most expensive plasma at Best Buy is 4500 dollars... the least expensive plasma at Magnolia Hi-Fi is 5500. Where Best Buy ends, Magnolia picks it up.

I've always hated that store, but they are the only place that sells Boston speakers so I went in there a few times. Even my girlfriend hates the peeps there.

So, did you at least give those fools a piece of your mind before you left!?

Lots of good info on speaker recommendations.

Count in another vote for Bose = suck. www.audioreview.com will give you a lot of details about products.

For 8K, you can get a really nice system. Check out PSB Speakers. They have GREAT sound for the price you pay!

yeah, there are a lot of systems you can buy cheaper that sound a sh!tload better than bose in every way. Bose systems do sound nice though, they are just overpriced. My parents got one a few years ago and it sounds great, but i've heard better. Good thing they got a hookup or i would've been mad. Bose needs to do something about their subwoofers, that would be a nice start.

I dunno man, but the idea of consumer goods is that they are priced with a huge spread to enable consumption by different strata of income.

So I laugh at people who spend over their "spending bracket". Like if you make 40 grand a year, and go buy 20 grand speakers...i dunno man... ::shakes head:: If you're on an hourly wage and you go buy an expensive car...i dunno man...

The only thing that can justify busting your ***** out to buy is real estate, cause it holds value (for the 99.9 percent part), plain and simple.

I am quite the audiophile myself. I have been into this for a while. Now due to budget constraints, and a wife that just can't seem to justify another component, in my opinion, my system is lacking. When I tell people this, they think I am crazy. In a sense I guess they are right. It really does rock. Magnolia HiFi is a great store. They have some amazing stuff there. Many many Items can be found online. Can I recommend a forum for you to paruse around for a while. http://www.hometheaterdiscussion.com. There are some cable vendors on there that produce beautiful cables, ultra high quality, far superior to the likes of Monster for about the same price. Cables are one of the most overlooked items in a system. You should allot 10% of your theater budget to cabling. Seems like a lot huh.? Trust me. It will make the difference in a good system and a great system. Another tip from a recent experience.... Buy the wide screen. I purchased a 40" Sony XBR two years ago. I am impessed with this monitor to this day. There really isn't a better set. Man I wish I bought a wide screen instead.

More like 20% for accessories. A nice power filter goes a long way in picture quality.
