GO WARRIORS... traded SURA for ...

from AP:

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Detroit Pistons traded forward Clifford Robinson and guard Pepe Sanchez to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday for guard Bob Sura.

Robinson, a 14-year NBA veteran, averaged 9.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game last season as a starter for the Pistons, who made the Eastern Conference finals. He is joining his fourth team, following stints in Portland and Phoenix.

Sura averaged 7.3 points, 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds for the Warriors last season as a valuable backup at shooting guard and small forward.

Sanchez, the first Argentine to play in the NBA, appeared in just nine games for the Pistons last season.

The Warriors have made several major changes to their once-promising roster in the offseason, starting when Gilbert Arenas signed with Washington as a free agent last month.

On Monday, the Warriors traded leading scorer Antawn Jamison and disgruntled forward Danny Fortson to the Dallas Mavericks for guard Nick Van Exel in a nine-player trade.

they are gonna suck really really bad this year.

Really pisses me off. They put together a great team with a great coach that would have made the playoffs this year and then they have a fire sale.

No arenas.....no freakin jamison....so lame.

I mean we got one of the most exciting guys in the league...in the air....who can't freakin shoot. A point guard that shoots before passing...if you wanted that you should have kept arenas.....no freakin center....a couple of middle of the road forwards and a guy that can shoot and that's it......

Dump fortson...good move...Dump arenas and sura....horrible move....pick up van exel for jamison....bad bad move. jamison is gonna go off next year..watch...

I mean the owners of the warriors are freakin idiots....make a great great draft....then loose everyone...every damn time.

I am sick of it.

Good thing I like the lakers.

will have to watch the buck now.

Follow my buy kenyon martin and that's about it....freakin pisses me off....screw st. jean.

See, the management didn't make an effort to make Arenas feel welcomed to sign. All they had to do was from time to time, just kick it with the guy and convince him to stay. ESPECIALLY the owner and ESPECIALLY the GM. No one did that, so he bounced. Besides, Van Exel does the same stuff Arenas does in his best years. At least 17 ppg with 7 assists. Their stats as starters are comparable. Let's just say Van Exel, in a way, is just Gilbert Arenas with a discount. The only thing the Warriors will miss about Arenas is the chemistry, unfortunately, that also left with him along with the contract.

As for the Jamison trade. Um...Jamison blowing up next year? Yea, if he gets enough shots. He'll have to wait in line behind Nowitzki and Finley, maybe even Nash. I'd say he'll put up about 17 point and 8 boards a game realistically. Maybe 20. I'm just being generous. I doubt he'll be a 25-27 points per game player with that team and put up double digit boards and actually play defense. To me, if he did all that, then he's blown up. If he does what I think he's going to do, well, he hasn't changed or gotten better.

Dallas may have added a great option for low post scoring, but this IS Jamison we're talking about. Which means, no hard nosed interior defender like they sorely needed. Sure, on paper, the stats make it look like a real crappy trade. Bear in mind how all these role shifts would work out for each team aside from numbers. There's huge chemistry shifts. For Golden State, Chris Mullin pulled the trigger on the trade to help Dunleavy and J-Rich improve by playing bigger roles because he feels they're the future of the ball club. It'll be J-Rich's 3rd season, so hopefully, this'll be the season he'll break out. Jamison was the main guy ever since he got there, he didn't like that kind of weight on his shoulders. He's a *****. So in a way, with Dallas, he doesn't feel so pressured, but now he's barely a 3rd scoring option at most. Like I said, he is not going to have a break out season with Dallas, that's just expecting too much. The trade isn't as horrible as it sounds since it creates more opportunities for the younger Warrior players to work on their game, losing season or not. Okay, the "not" isn't an option, but you know what I mean.

Dallas just signed Travis Best as a back up point guard for Steve Nash as well.

I loved Clifford Robinson back in the Porland days. I mean he's still an OK player, but i don't know if i'd put up Sura for him today.

I am so tired of finding other teams to cheer for. I was happy with last years team. I HATE ST JEAN!!!!!!!!! fire him please

I really feel bad for the Warriors. It seems as if no one wants to play here. I think they should have kept Sura. He was their only decent defender at the guard position. What the Warriors need are role players/defenders. The point will come because the players that they still have and acquired through trades can all score. I really hope they can pull it together...
