Don't read into the tires thing in regards to our car too much based on the Infineon event mate, our car was -0.2 to -0.3 a corner slower than when we last tested there because I screwed up the center diff. I would be extremely disappointed if we didn't go 1:33 at that track on the tires we were running that day with a car that wasn't putting power down every which way but loose not to mention 2 shocks that were found afterwards to be blown.
You guys proved you guys are animals when operating at even 80%.
So stoked that 3 of the best suby shops in the world are here in the bay... and they don't hate each other. How rad is that!
(And we've got a few other solid shops out here too)

They ran shorty plugs. Erm, too short a length. Engines are a lot like sex, it'll still "work" but not in the best way.
It's been years for me but IIRC...
The spark can't propagate into the fuel mixture and properly ignite the burn cycle because the plugs don't reach into the combustion chamber enough. Thus the engine fouls out and/or runs lean. When the unburned mixture reaches the 02 sensors the system auto-corrects by trying to lean the fuel map out and causes things to get hot in an attempt to properly burn it all off to get the power back.
Not to even mention the likelyhood of burning the exhaust valves, etc all to crap and likely causing a ton of detonation and pinging.
Paul, did that sound right?? I'm surprised there's even plug threads still there, I've seen them sparked out and/or the last threads chipped/melted. See how the ledge of the left cylinder bump's all silver from being burned away as the hotter gasses try to vent out the exhaust valves?

Short version:
Paul, if you're considering the "Sandbox" theme maybe airbrush on some folded ductape graphics onto the edges of the carbon fiber roof along with a "Remove Before Flight" pull plug or "Caution Hot Exhaust" tag and glowing sand sparks like the picture below, on the bumper just above the exhaust?
*Pic borrowed from Mike Yon, apologies, but in this case I hope it's ok.

Obi...the clean area between the exhaust valves (covered by the arrows) is a first for me. I had attributed this to the wrong plugs.
Yes, this car has had a series of misfortunes come it's way; 2 litre plugs in a 2.5l engine, coolant leak, etc.
All is better now, but the customer was warned that the engine may start to consume more oil after repairs have been made.

Replacing both front axles on a 2005 Legacy Outback. The inner boots have been torn & leaking grease for some time, so there's no point in re-booting them.
