best thing to do is get an amateur radio license.
1. no more morse code requirements.
2. $12 to take a test (26 out of 35) questions. multiple choice.
best part is buying the really cool gear afterwards. granted it CAN get expensive really fast, but you can do cool things with it. for example, you can volunteer for events like the RIM OF THE WORLD rally as a communications worker.
with ham radio, with the proper equipment and license, you can even bounce your signal off the moon...
