Anyone know where I can get my A/C recharged with CFC-12 (freon) here in the bay area? I'm looking for a local shop and it's for a '93 Honda. Hopefully, it won't be expensive.

freon is like gold these days...

fortunately, my 15 y/o truck still can get cold from the a/c...

trick is to constantly use it to prevent seals from going bad and leaking the stuff into the environment, or so i was told...

so i try to use the a/c on th STi as well, even when it's cold. actually when foggin up, the a/c come on automatically when i switch to defog...

 

sigh. i fear that someone might say that...i was hoping that it would be cheap.

anyone have any shop recommendations? i'm going to have to go through with this one way or another...

 

The trick is to "constantly" use or "occasionally" use it? Quite different -- I would think that under constant use, the AC seals would wear out quicker than if you occasionally run it (every few weeks or so) to keep the oil flowing. Even our Impreza owner's manual says to do that....

 

might as well spend a few $$ to upgrade your seals to R-134a spec, then buy a recharge kit for $15....

 

Dude it's San Francisco. Have really ever used your A/C here?
