Freon leak

I recently found a pretty big leak on my compressor by the lines and just wondering if you guys thinks its just some bad o-rings before I go any farther. I put in some uv dye freon so I isolated the area of the leak.

IMO, if you can, replace entire hose/o-ring system in the AC. i replaced o rings when i sprung a leak at condensor. replaced o rings, a month later, one of the crimps on high side hose started leaking. had to vac and re charge....AGAIN....and that **** aint cheap!

Clean off the freon and dirt and grim with some brake clean, start if up, turn the a/c and left it run... You'll be able to see freon seeping from where ever the leak is..

If its coming from the o-rings, you need to have the freon evacuated from the system.. Leaking it out into the atmosphere is illegal, and will leave a big mess.. Change the high side and low side o-rings.. Then you'll need to vacuum the whole system to suck out any moisture and air that was aloud in the system while you changed the o-rings.. Then recharge the system with new freon.. You'll most likely have to get a shop to do the work or someone with an a/c machine..

just to add, replace the AC dryer as well. on the wrx, IIRC its a removable canister on the side of the AC condenser. RS's are outta luck and must replace entire condenser or find a place that sells just the decandess...bag. < dont remember the exact spelling on the bag name. but its the bag that absorbs water and moisture. if that is already soaked, its pointless to remove freon, vaccumm, and recharge.

just and extra tip before u do it ALL over again

dont look like the hose is leaking. im pretty sure thats the o-ring leaking. worst case scenario the compressor is leaking, in the picture you can see its sweating.
and the bag that guy is talking about is the desiccant. its a hassle to even TRY to replace the bag in the drier. just replace the drier, im pretty sure it aint that costly. i havent or never seen anyone open up a drier and change the desiccant. personally id say youll be fine without changing the drier unless your AC has been out for a LOONG time. but if it JUST recently started to leak then just save your money replace the leaking part and leave the original drier.
