It nots that great.

The physics are awful. The game looks great, has tons of cars, and has sweet damage engine, but the cars don't react naturally and realistically.

It's still an arcadish game, can't touch GT or Toca, which are much more like sim games.

It's unatural. I like that for a split second you get the back out when trail braking but then the car just goes straight. The game cannot handle multple driver inputs.

The rear tires burn out and lose grip for no reason at times. I tried to make it happen again at the same turn going the same speed with the same throttle input, and didn't happy. Such inconsistency is very annoying.

The tuning the car is worthless it seem. any changes to alignment, and suspension parts are null.

Toca is probably still the best as a sim on a console.

Rfactor takes the sim spot though for PC. It's still in it's infancy, but because it's kinda open source, it's going to grow emensly.

I started with a PS1 and GT1, have owned/played all of the GT games excessively to the point of my family having concerns for my health. GT4 broke new ground and made the previous versions seem like Need for Speed (worthless crap). I started playing Forza, and had a ton of fun with the vehicle dynamics and the learning that comes from the exaggerated effect of what happens when you brake/turn at the same time. Think about it - you wouldn't dive into a corner braking hard and then try to turn in real life so why would you want to be able to in your "driving simulator?"

The tuning in Forza is not perfect - it's different. It took me a while to get used to it and learn that the SMALLEST increments make a difference and it's not completely intuitive as far as what happens in the real world. My only real complaint with Forza is how so many times when you kiss the wall and don't react perfectly, you spin. Also, it sucks taking a turn wrong and having all the other cars total yours - but that could happen in real life.

The lack of damage is my biggest and really only complaint about GT4 (well ok and the car sounds are really lame). It makes it completely NOT a driving sim since you do not have any incentive to NOT hit other cars. But after playing them both back to back, I have the feeling that GT4 is more "arcade-like" with the no damage and the ease of braking hard in a turn - neither of which are realistic. I found that with GT4 I could get ahead by bouncing off a car in a corner and that is just dumb. With Forza and the damage, you actually have to try hard to not hit stuff, you have to think before you come to a turn, etc. I find the experience much more fun though of course it is not perfect. Good enough for me to give away my PS2 and all games tho...

Really excited to try F2 tho I have no intent of buying a 360 any time soon so it's really moot for me.

yeah its cool Forza has damage but bouncing off walls and cars in Gran Turismo is no secret lol R11 night stage can be a B**** sometimes, if you want to win the race to advance, use the walls, if you want to improve your skill and have fun just playing the game, then dont cheat yourself.

as far as my favorite levels its between Blue Mountain Forza or Deep Forest GT4

I think Forza 2 or 3 will come out on top as far as levels quantity wise...it seems like they have many more American tracks...soon they will have Buttonwillow and Thunderhill...while GT5 probly wont.

It's a video game, it will never be perfect. rFactor is getting there, in terms of realism, but it's still a game as well.

I turn all the aids off. In real life, when you turn the wheels while on the brakes, you get a much sharper turn in, and if you are too aggressive with it, you spin. I know this, because I trail brake a lot nowadays, it's something I need to train myself and learn about.

gt4 came out 3 years ago, you can't compare it too much to newer games. a Comparison to Forza 1 is much more appropriate.

for me, if I can't make suspension adjustments and have those changes come though in a realistic manner, then the game sucks. I hate the fact in forza nothing i did changed the way the car felt. especially with toe out in the back, the car should have been crab walking the whole way down the straights!

I don't care for damage since i hardly race in the game anyways, i spend my time in gt4 setting up cars and doing time attacks.

Now that i've spend time on the race track myself, i totally hate the way forza feels and find GT4 much more realistic for handling physics, which is what i'm really after. So, IMO, GT4 is still more sim like.

Forza 2>any GT game yet.

Physics are nice and graphics are super realistics. Cars sound as they should and are not the same for every car ie a old school chevy sounds like an import or vs versa. I was not dissapointed in the long wait.

Well, I do still have an Xbox and Forza and Toca. I love both. I havn't played Forza online in a long time, but when I did it sorta pissed me off. So many dirty drivers, I'd get slammed into and then they were gone, or they discovered some cheat or whatever. Playing single player, I've gotten to the Top 10 of some of the scoreboards and many Top 100's. But playing against others, I'd rather play PGR2 with not strange setup BS and a level playing field.

Checking out Dirt and of course Forza 2, I'm thinking a 360 will find it's way here soon...
