I have never really been a fan of Ford, but I will say the GT-40 and Ford GT were pretty nice. I have owned a '95 Mustang GT and an '84 Ranger that were mediocre at best, while bringing exactly the "car per dollar" value I expected out of a cheap V8 RWD car and an $800 pickup.
Whilst living in England, I was issued a Ford Mondeo "LX" model with the 1.4L 4 cylinder and I must say it was a right blast to drive. After a few weeks of not crashing that car, they upgraded me to a 2.0 Si (with Recaro seats and all). After 6 more months of not crashing that, I was handed the keys to a brand new turbo Impreza wagon (in 1999). In a country where folks actually know how to drive, hand-brake turns are part of the curriculum, my 13 mile commute (each way) was essentially a commuter deathmatch where I probably learned a large portion of what I think I know about driving. Keep in mind, it is LEGAL to pass here, against on-coming traffic, in certain areas. You break out to pass, and the people who you are charging against with a (let's say) 140mph speed differential, simply move over. I have seen folks trade mirrors at speed before - though rare, it's an impressive sight to see.
Anyone who disses a European Ford probably doesn't know anything about cars/driving and most assuredly cannot drive for crap. Anyone that puts down an entire brand should probably not be listened to. I mean, even Chrysler has made some interesting things. Even Chrysler!
That said, if this thing has 350whp, AWD, and can be had for $9k out the door - I MIGHT be interested.

I find that when someone throws out a knowledge-free opinion putting down an entire brand or product line without any actual experience with such, it's best to just ignore it.

Do I give a ****? Would never own a ford product, not ever. Oh I mean it must be a winner after the 6.0 diesel..oh wait, uh, the Lincoln blackwood...um, OH I know, the Mercury Park Lane...no wait. I got it, the pinto! no, hang on, lets see, The escort? the explorer? I know the mustang II, the SVO mustang?...

How about this. Ford sucks SOOOOO Much they didn't ask or take money from the bailout program, in fact they prospered on their own. I guess Fords really do suck and all of those consumers are just plain wrong. Dont forget all of their current safety recalls too...
All of his dated examples make perfect sense.

My point is, its a ford, they are not known for their high build quality or great engineering. Not like the Japanese manufactures are, and to a lesser(much) extent the European ones.
I just see this as another in the current line of "hot hatches" from ford. Poor interiors, very poor seats, sloppy gear boxes. Can't fault the paint it seems pretty good but lets see in 10 years...now, all of that said, its still better than anything GM or Dodge offers right now.

OH I am not making excuses for dodge or GM trust me. I won't own any GM made after 1974, and I won't own any dodge (other than jeep and ram) made after 1973.
