The standard Maglights are very "meh"... They were great back in the early 90s, but they are dated and very inferior to lights on the market today... However, you can change that by using the 3watt LED for it, it makes the light quite a bit brighter and increases battery life like 10 fold! The only thing that sucks is that the LED light is blueish/whitish... The higher the kelvins are the bluery/purplish the light is... 4,000k is about the best usuable light you can have... Sunlight is at around 4000k, useable light is yellow/white like the sun.

You'll see people with purple HID lights on their cars, but little do they know that purple light is less useable than white/yellow so when it rains or something they are jacked.

4000k = Yellow/white, like the sun

5000k = white

6000k = whitish/bluish

7000k = Blue

8000k = Purple

The higher the temp the less the light is usable.

I typed that REALLY fast while multitasking so forgive my grammer and such

Surefire Centurion C-2 (same as the 6P) with the P-61 lamp, 120 lumens. (On par with a 3D cell LED maglight)

and here is the Ultra Stinger, the most powerful of the rechargeables from Streamlight with 295 lumens and 75,000 candlepower. (more than DOUBLE of the pelican)

Now here's Borealis 1050

i hope you set your camera on manual mode with the same shutter speed! tisk tisk! Otherwise we need an second and accurate comparo!

That said, get one of the TerraLux drop-in's:

I have an old 3cell mag with a 2cell conversion bulb and a store-bought 4cell with the proper bulb and they are both (to the naked eye) about the same, just a different color. Have to mess with them. Pretty much as bright as my Inova T3 but much more messy. I have had that 3cell with the conversion bulb for a good 3 yrs too w/ no problems.

Anyone that buys a $4200 flashlight should be punched in the face.
