ya, the glass wont break and slice anyone's head off. i learned that in high school autoshop class where we took sledgehammers to old american car windshields!
I know, I was on HWY17 yesterday (2 round trips) and I saw about 15 cops total (on 17 alone)!

The windshield also provides structure support so that
the roof won't collapse when you roll over. It's a cheap
way to design and build small cars. But it doen't work
with a big Freightliner.
Safety, yes. It's still a lame excuse to pull somebody over.

according to an article in last months SCC (which was written by an ex-cop), there are no official quotas. but if its coming to the end of the month and you have ticketed 5 people while everyone else has ticketed 25 people, then u start handing out tickets left and right to make up.
