I guess im getting a bit old, but alot of you guys are too young to remember a time (the 80s) where being into cars sucked. Car manufactures still hadnt figured out how to make power and be smog legal and didnt even bother to make cars fun again till the miata came out in the 90s. So when the 200mph Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959 came out in the late 80s it was earth shaking. When 'sports cars' like the corvette and 911 made barely more power than a Honda Civic Si does now, these cars lit a fire in all of us and changed the whole industry. I cant tell you how many hours I spent playing this game on my commodore 64 and dreaming of getting my drivers license

Even though bigger and badder porsches and ferraris have surpassed the F40 and 959, none of them have had a bigger impact on sports cars or the auto industry as a whole, and is a big reason why we can now buy EVOs and STis for 30K or cars like the Z06 or GTR for 70K.
They are just awesome, awesome cars

I do remember Test Drive, I played it on Apple instead of C64. IIRC, it was the first driving game to have in the driver seat views with the actual cars. It was ahead of it's time.
If I saw one Ferrari F40 on the road, I'd probably have to pull over and compose myself. If I saw that many F40's on the road, I think I would crash.

Glad I wasn't a car freak in the 80's. The F40 and the 959 were literally the only cars worths drooling over. And you couldn't even keep a 959 in the sates. The government had anyone who was lucky enough to get there hands on it ship it out the country or it would be crushed.
Then the 1990's opened up with the 300ZX Twin Turbo, and it was good. And there was much rejoicing
