Fellow Member? - This Weekend Picketing In Front Of Stevens Creek
no i totally agree, but SOA should look at each account individually. especially when someone has a lawyer. not saying "oh i have a lawyer give me the new tranny" but hey this is serious come check out this case and tell me youve looked at it as an individual case.
well the guy from SOA did come out to Prestige in Santa Rosa and wouldnt even look at the thing!!! he just said he trusts his service manager's professional opinion on the whole thing.
and they left it as "you dropped the clutch at 6k rpms" and i pointed out the 100% even wear on the clutch, no marks no nothing that looked like a dropped clutch at 6k rpms.
and Huck brought up a good point at our PINO meet. a guy was in a magazine talking about how subaru replaced his tranny 3 times under warranty, all of which were from him racing at the track...
if i met that guy id slap him.

they can't open up the tranny unless they have consent from the car owner. once opened and they foudn that he was the cause of the blown tranny, then they can charge him whatever.
at least that's how I think it works.
ive had other dealerships open my tranny before. but they always asked for consent first. they always said if it was my fault, then i'd be charged, but so far, it hasn't been my fault

-1 for Stevens Creek Subaru, my friend was all set to buy a Subaru. He went there (w/o talking to me) and has since sworn off buying a Subaru. He loved the car Legacy GT but was so turned off by the attitude there.
I too will only set foot on Stevens Creek in an effort to burn it down.
We need more information in this case though, even if Stevens Creek has torn down the tranny he should still be able to pick up the car with a flat bed. Unless they are saying the $1200 is for labor only.
Also the best way to fight this is to speak with various managers, lawyers, etc. Taking it to the streets may be a bit premature.

Yeah. I've gotten the "attitude" from them before. I wasn't impressed, but whatever. I'll just keep telling people to stay away from there.

Easy.
Look at your paperwork.
Did you sign anything to the affect of if warranty is denied, you have to pay?
If they performed work on your vehicle without obtaining your signature on an estimate, they are screwed.
Have a friend go w/ you and videotape the converstion.
Hilarity will ensue.
