fastest route to Modesto on Wed afternoon?

I got some helpful info from you folks last time when I asked for advice for getting to Sacramento from San Jose. Tomorrow I need to get to Modesto by 4:30 PM leaving from San Jose near the airport. Anyone have any suggestions other than what the usual from mapquest/yahoo maps is suggesting:

680N->580E->205E->5N->120E->99S->132/108

What's a good time to leave to avoid traffic and all that?

TIA

i went to merced from berkeley .. left about 6:30 and got there around 8:30.. merced is after modesto, so it shouldve taken like an hour and a half .. but yet again i left at evening so traffic might occur during the day.

That the right route. Same as Sac though, leave before 1pm-2pm or after 7pm.

if i expect really bad traffic at the 680/580 interchange, i will take 680N to Hwy84 to 580E to circumvent that area. also, traffic is ALWAYS bad near Tracy, so take Hwy132!

Hwy 132 has been crowned most deadliest hwy in CA... way too many head on collisions.

Taking 680 to 84 to 580 is your best bet. As far as traffic in Tracy, plan on being there before 2:30 and it won't be so bad. If its bad when you get there you can exit at 11th st and that will take you to the 5 through downtown Tracy.

132 sucks. It drops you in the ghetto of modesto. Screw that road.

yes, i know about the title bestowed onto Hwy132. i grew up in Modesto.

Hwy132 is (particularly) dangerous at night when cars drift into the other lane. during commuter traffic, however, there are enough cars to keep both sides on their respective sides.
