Nice driving route to SoCal?
I'm going to be driving down to LA on a Thursday this month from SF. I'm looking for a fun, but not totally out of the way route down. Any ideas? If I take the 5, I usually get there in 4.5 hours... so I'd like to keep the scenic route to about 6 hours if possible. Any ideas? Thanks!

Try 101 South, very pretty compared to 5 and I usually see some pretty cool cars. A few years ago I got into a high speed caravan with my TT300zx and a Viper and a F355. Was a total blast, at times we reached really stupid speeds.

try this one... exit south bay on 101.. go to 25 south and take it through Hollister. Take it all the way past Pinnacles to where it tees into (I think) 198. Take a left on 198 East and take this to Coalinga. From there you can either go to 5 or go south on 33. I suggest looking at a map to decide what to do once in Coalinga (5 or 33 or a combo of both).
The stretch between Hollister and Coalinga is fun and beautiful.

I once drove from Washington d.c. to fayetteville, NC (a 6.5hr) drive in 2.25 hrs flat. so i guess i can see making it to L.A. in 4.5hrs.
don't ask me why i drove that fast cause it's a long painful story.
oh yeah i was in a slightly modded 2000 neon r/t.
eastbaysubaru suggested this to me
